The women's freestyle 59 kilograms is a competition featured at the 2007 World Wrestling Championships, and was held at the Heydar Aliyev Sports and Concert Complex in Baku, Azerbaijan on 22 September 2007. [1]

Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline Oil pipeline

The Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline is a 1,768 kilometres (1,099 mi) long crude oil pipeline from the Azeri–Chirag–Gunashli oil field in the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean Sea. It connects Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan and Ceyhan, a port on the south-eastern Mediterranean coast of Turkey, via Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. It is the second-longest oil pipeline in the former Soviet Union, after the Druzhba pipeline. The first oil that was pumped from the Baku end of the pipeline reached Ceyhan on 28 May 2006.

Manado Malay, or simply the Manado language, is a creole language spoken in Manado, the capital of North Sulawesi province in Indonesia, and the surrounding area. The local name of the language is bahasa Manado, and the name Minahasa Malay is also used, after the main ethnic group speaking the language. The main religion in Azerbaijan is Islam, though Azerbaijan is the most secular country in the Muslim world. Estimates include 96.9% and 99.2% of the population identifying as Muslim. Most are adherents of Shia Islam, with a minority (15%) being Sunni, differences traditionally have not been defined sharply. Most Shi'a are adherents of orthodox Ithna Ashari school of Shi'a Islam. Following many decades of Soviet atheist policy, religious affiliation is nominal in Azerbaijan and Muslim identity tends to be based more on culture and ethnicity than religion. The history of the Jews in Azerbaijan dates back many centuries. Today, Jews in Azerbaijan mainly consist of three distinct groups: Mountain Jews, the most sizable and most ancient group; Ashkenazi Jews, who settled in the area during the late 19th-early 20th centuries, and during World War II; and Georgian Jews who settled mainly in Baku during the early part of the 20th century.

FK Standard Sumgayit Football club

FK Standard Sumgayit was an Azerbaijani football club. They played in the AFFA Supreme League, the top division in Azerbaijani football. Founded in Baku, the club moved to Sumgayit on 12 June 2009, which changed also club's name to Standard Sumgayit.

İctimai Television, or İTV, is a public television channel in Azerbaijan. It officially began broadcasting on 29 August 2005 after being created by law in the beginning of 2004, as the first independent public broadcaster in Azerbaijan. The channel is based in Baku.

2006–07 Azerbaijan Premier League was the fifteenth season of top-tier football in Azerbaijan. The season started with 14 teams, but ended with 13 after FK Gäncä were excluded. FK Baku were the defending champions with the season began on 5 August 2006 and ended on 23 May 2007. At the end of the season the league was dissolved and replaced by the Azerbaijan Premier League.

The 2007–08 Azerbaijan Premier League is the 16th season of Azerbaijan Premier League, the Azerbaijani professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1992. Khazar Lankaran were the defending champions, having won the previous season.

The 23rd Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships were held in Baku, Azerbaijan from 29 June to 1 July 2007.

Azerbaijan–United Kingdom relations Bilateral relations

Strong foreign relations exist between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom. The Embassy of United Kingdom in Baku opened in 1992. The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in London opened in 1994. Both countries are members of the Council of Europe, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.

Athletics is one of the sports at the quadrennial Islamic Solidarity Games competition. Athletics competitions was inaugurated since the first edition in 2005.

The Azerbaijani women's football league is the top-level women's football league of Azerbaijan. It is organized by the national women's football association.

The Azerbaijan Cup 2006–07 was the 15th season of the annual cup competition in Azerbaijan with the final taking place on 27 May 2007. Sixteen teams competed in this year's competition. Qarabağ were the defending champions.

The Neftchi Baku 2007–08 season was Neftchi Baku's sixteenth Azerbaijan Premier League season. They started the season under the management of Gurban Gurbanov who was replaced by Vlastimil Petržela after the UEFA Cup qualifiers at the start of September. Petržela was replaced by Anatoliy Demyanenko on 5 January 2008. They finished 3rd in the league and were knocked out of the Azerbaijan Cup at the semifinal stage by Inter Baku. Neftchi also took part in the UEFA Cup, being eliminated at the First qualifying round by SV Ried of Austria.

The Olimpik Baku 2007–08 season was Olimpik Baku's third Azerbaijan Premier League season and their second season with Asgar Abdullayev as manager. They participated in the 2007–08 Azerbaijan Premier League as well as the 2007–08 Azerbaijan Cup, finishing the league in 2nd, qualifying for a European competition for the first time, and reaching the quarterfinal stage of the cup, where they were eliminated by Khazar Lankaran.

Shabalyt buta carpet

"Shabalyt buta" - Azerbaijani pile carpets part of the Karabakh group of the Karabakh type. The "Shabalyt buta" carpets belong to the complex composition of the Karabakh carpets. The main centres of production of the "Shabalyt buta" carpets were Jabrayil, Aghdam and Mugan. In an earlier period, carpets of the same pattern were woven at carpet weaving points located in the Iranian Azerbaijan, but they were rougher than the Karabakh ones. The silk carpets “Shabalyt buta” woven in Jabrayil were very popular.
