Copa América de Futsal South American futsal tournament for national teams

The Copa América de Futsal is the main national futsal competition of the CONMEBOL nations organized by the FIFA. It was first held in 1995, although it was preceded in 1992 by an edition of the CONMEBOL Futsal Championship. In 1996, the second edition of both tournaments were held as a single event. The Copa América was held every year until 1999. In 2000, it was organized as the third and last edition of the CONMEBOL Futsal Championship. The winners qualify to represent the Republic of Ireland in the UEFA Futsal Cup. The competition was introduced in 2007 and the inaugural winners were Shamrock Rovers. The 2007 tournament was referred to as the Eircom U21 Futsal League and the 2008 and 2009 tournaments were referred to as the Futsal League of Ireland or the FAI National Futsal League. Since 2010 it has generally been referred to as the FAI Futsal Cup.
