The Libyan Super Cup is a Libyan football championship contested between the winners of the Libyan Premier League and the Alfatih Cup. The game is played at the beginning of the following season, and signals the beginning of the domestic year. The Super Cup was a two-legged final in 1997 but became one-legged from 1998 onwards. Al Ittihad are the most successful club with ten titles in total, including nine consecutive titles from 2002 onwards.

The 1999 Libyan Super Cup was a one-legged Libyan football championship contested between LPL winners Al Mahalah and Libyan Cup winners Al Ittihad. This was the third edition of the Super Cup, and the second in its one-legged form. The match was actually played in January 2000 at the 23 October Stadium in Khoms. The match ended 0-0 after extra time, with Al Ittihad winning a long penalty shootout 11–10, and winning their first Super Cup title.
The 2004 Libyan Super Cup was the 8th edition of the Super Cup, and was played on Friday, August 27, 2004 between LPL winners Al Olympic and Libyan Cup winners Al Ittihad. Al Olympic ended the game with 9 men, Nader Kara and Younes Al Shibani having both been sent off, Kara going for taking his shirt off after scoring, and Al Shibani walking for a poor tackle. Al Ittihad comfortably won the game 5-2.
The 2007–08 Libyan Cup final was a football match held at 11 June Stadium on July 26, 2008. The match was contested by Khaleej Sirte and Al Madina. This was the first time in ten years that one of the Big Two of Libyan football, Al Ahly Tripoli and Al Ittihad, were not in the final. The match was a tense affair as this was Khaleej Sirte's first final, and as Al Madina had lost their last two, and their last cup win was in 1978, both sides, with similar league finishes, cancelled each other out. Khaleej Sirte won the game, with an 81st-minute goal from Idrees Salem, and thus, secured qualification for the 2009 CAF Confederation Cup and the 2008 Libyan Super Cup. This trophy was Sirte's first major honour.
