The 2008 Northern Mariana Championship was the third season of top-flight football in Northern Marianas Islands. The league was divided into two parts, the Winter League and the Fall League. The Winter League was won by Fiesta Inter Saipan, who also won the Fall League under their new name, Inter Godfather's. [1]

Winter League

The winter league was played in a normal league format, each team played the others twice and the team in first place following the completion of all games won the championship.

The scores for rounds five and nine are not known, although it is known that Inter Saipan, FC Arirang and Onwell beat Ol' Aces, Multinational and Independents respectively in round five [2] and that Inter Saipan beat Multinational while Onwell drew with FC Aririang in round six. [2] The result of the match between Independents and Ol' Aces in round nine is not known while none of the results in round ten are known. [2]

Fall League

The Fall League consisted of a reduced number of teams, with only Inter Saipan (competing under their new name of Inter Godfather's) and Multinational FC from the Spring League choosing to compete. Wild Bill's and Pacific Telecom, who competed in the previous season also competed, with Pacific Telecom competing under the name MP United - PTI. [2] A group stage was held to confirm who would play whom in the semi-finals.

The Northern Mariana Islands national football team represents the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands in international men's football. The team is controlled by the governing body for football in the Northern Mariana Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association, which is a member of the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) and since December 2020 a full member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The association is not a member of the world governing body FIFA, although it had applied for membership, and so while the national team is eligible to enter AFC and EAFF-run competitions, they are currently ineligible for global competitions such as the FIFA World Cup. The team have never qualified for the finals of a major tournament and beyond friendlies and qualifying matches, their only official competition has been in an exhibition tournament in the regional Micronesian Games in 1998, which they won, to date their only tournament success.

The 2009–10 UEFA Champions League was the 55th season of Europe's premier club football tournament organised by UEFA, and the 18th under the current UEFA Champions League format. The final was played on 22 May 2010, at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, home of Real Madrid, in Madrid, Spain. The final was won by Italian club Inter Milan, who beat German side Bayern Munich 2–0.
