The 2009 Pan American Women's Handball Championship was the tenth edition of the Pan American Women's Handball Championship, which took place in Santiago from 23 to 27 June. It acted as the Pan American qualifying tournament for the 2009 World Women's Handball Championship.
Chile, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the United States played a qualification tournament at Mexico, to determine the last 2 participating nations.

Team advanced to the 2009 World Women's Handball Championship |
The 2009 World Women's Handball Championship was the 19th edition, second to take place outside Europe, of the international championship tournament in women's team sport handball that is governed by the International Handball Federation (IHF). China hosted the event from 5-20 December 2009. Russia successfully contested France in the final, their fourth title.
The 2011 Pan American Women's Handball Championship was the eleventh edition of the Pan American Women's Handball Championship, held from 28 June to 2 July 2011, in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil. The tournament also served as the qualification event for the 2011 World Women's Handball Championship, with the top three teams winning the right to participate on the World Championship. However, since Pan American Championship winners Brazil already qualified as the host nation, fourth placed Uruguay was awarded the third spot, that was reserved for the zone.
The 2012 Pan American Handball Championship, also called PanAmericano 2012, was the 15th official competition for senior men's national handball teams of North, Center, Caribbean and South America. It was held from 18 to 24 June 2012 in Burzaco, Almirante Brown Partido, Argentina. It also acted as the qualifying competition for the 2013 World Men's Handball Championship, securing three vacancies for the World Championship. A decision was announced during the 2011 Pan American Games that the tournament will consist of 12 teams. As the winner of those Pan American Games, Argentina was selected as the host.
The 2013 Pan American Women's Handball Championship was the twelfth edition of the Pan American Women's Handball Championship, which took place in the Dominican Republic from 1 to 8 June 2013. It acted as the American qualifying tournament for the 2013 World Women's Handball Championship to be held in Serbia from December 7 to 22. It was organized by the Pan-American Team Handball Federation. This was the second time that this tournament was held in the Dominican Republic after the 2007 Pan American Women's Handball Championship.
The 2014 Pan American Men's Handball Championship, was the 16th official competition for senior men's national handball teams of North, Center, Caribbean and South America. It was held from 23 to 29 June 2014 in Uruguay. It also acted as the qualifying competition for the 2015 World Men's Handball Championship, securing three vacancies for the World Championship.
The 2015 IHF Men's Junior World Championship was the 20th edition of the tournament and held at Brazil from 19 July to 1 August 2015. The decision to select Brazil as the host was announced 1 August 2014. France won their first title by defeating Denmark 26–24 in the final.
The 1989 Pan American Women's Handball Championship was the second edition of the Pan American Women's Handball Championship, held in United States from 14 to 16 September 1988. It acted as the American qualifying tournament for the 1990 World Women's Handball Championship.
The 1991 Pan American Women's Handball Championship was the third edition of the Pan American Women's Handball Championship, held in Brazil from 30 September to 6 October 1990. It acted as the American qualifying tournament for the 1992 Summer Olympics.
The 2017 IHF Men's Junior World Championship was the 21st edition of the tournament, held in Algiers, Algeria from 18 to 30 July 2017. It was the first time that Algeria staged the competition, and the third time that it was held in Africa.
The 2015 Pan American Women's Handball Championship was the 13th edition of the Pan American Women's Handball Championship, held in Cuba from 21 to 28 May 2015. It acted as the American qualifying tournament for the 2015 World Women's Handball Championship.
The 2016 Women's Junior World Handball Championship was the 20th edition of the tournament and took place in Moscow, Russia from 2 to 15 July 2016. Denmark won their second title after defeating Russia 32–28 in the final.
The 2016 Pan American Men's Handball Championship was the 17th official competition for senior men's national handball teams of North, Center, Caribbean and South America. It was held from 11 to 19 June 2016 at the Tecnópolis in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It also acted as the qualifying competition for the 2017 World Men's Handball Championship in France, securing three vacancies for the World Championship.
The 2016 Women's Youth World Handball Championship was the sixth edition of the tournament and took place in Slovakia from 19 to 31 July 2016.
The 2017 Pan American Women's Handball Championship was the 14th edition of the Pan American Women's Handball Championship, held in at the Sociedad Alemana de Gimnasia de Villa Ballester, in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina from 18 to 25 June 2017. It acted as American qualifying tournament for the 2017 World Women's Handball Championship. The event was originally set to be held in Toronto, Canada but the Canadian Handball Federation withdrew, citing lack of funds.
The 2017 IHF Men's Youth World Championship was the seventh edition of the U-19 tournament and held in Tbilisi, Georgia from 8 to 20 August 2017. All matches were played in two halls at the Olympic Palace.
The 2018 Pan American Men's Handball Championship was the 18th official competition for senior men's national handball teams of North, Central and South America and the Caribbean. It was held from 16 to 24 June 2018 in Nuuk, Greenland. It also acted as the qualifying competition for the 2019 World Men's Handball Championship in Denmark and Germany, securing three vacancies for the World Championship.
The 2008 Women's Junior World Handball Championship was the 16th edition of the tournament and took place in Macedonia from 21 July to 3 August 2008.
The 2019 Nor.Ca. Women's Handball Championship was the third edition of the Nor.Ca. Women's Handball Championship. The tournament took place in Mexico City from 28 May to 2 June 2019. It acted as the North American and Caribbean qualifying tournament for the 2019 World Women's Handball Championship.
The handball women's tournament at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru was held between 24 and 30 July 2019. Eight nations participated. Brazil won its sixth straight title, directly qualifying to the 2020 Summer Olympics.
The 2004 Pan American Men's Handball Championship was the eleventh edition of the tournament, held in Santiago, Chile from 20 to 24 July 2004. It acted as the American qualifying tournament for the 2005 World Championship, where the top three placed team qualied.
