The Fédération Internationale de Roller Sports was the world governing body for roller sports, including skateboarding, rink hockey, inline hockey, inline speed skating, inline alpine, downhill, roller derby, roller freestyle, inline freestyle, aggressive inline skating, inline figure skating and artistic roller skating. The Intercontinental Cup is a roller hockey competition organized by World Skate and usually contested between the World Skate Europe and the World Skate America champions clubs.

The 2013–14 CERH European League was the 49th season of Europe's premier club roller hockey competition organised by CERH, and the 17th season since it was renamed from Champions League to European League. Sixteen teams from six national associations qualified for the competition as a result of their domestic league placing in the previous season. Following a group stage and a knockout round, the four best teams contested a final four tournament, which took place at the Palau Blaugrana in Barcelona, on 3 and 4 May 2014.

The 1983 Intercontinental Cup was the inaugural roller hockey tournament known as the Intercontinental Cup, played in February 1983. This first edition saw a very different format compared with the other editions, as there were 8 teams playing a round robin pool, each team competing against every other. FC Barcelona won the tournament, above FC Porto. This edition wasn't official until it was recognize by World Skate in 2018.

The 1985 FIRS Intercontinental Cup was the first official edition of the roller hockey tournament known as the Intercontinental Cup, played between the 23 and 25 of August, 1985. This second edition saw a drastic change in format, as the winner of the CERH European Cup played the winner of the Roller Hockey South American Club Championship, in a two-legged final. Unión Vecinal de Trinidad won the cup, defeating FC Barcelona.

The 2007 FIRS Intercontinental Cup was the tenth edition of the roller hockey tournament known as the Intercontinental Cup, played on March 24, 2007, at Follonica, Italy. Follonica Hockey won the cup, defeating Concepción PC.

The 2008 FIRS Intercontinental Cup was the eleventh edition of the roller hockey tournament known as the Intercontinental Cup, played on September 29, 2008 at Molins de Rei, Spain. FC Barcelona won the cup, defeating Concepción PC.

The 2012 FIRS Intercontinental Cup was the thirteenth edition of the roller hockey tournament known as the Intercontinental Cup, played in November 13, 2012 at the Palacio de los Deportes de Riazor, in A Coruña, Spain. HC Liceo La Coruña won the cup for a record fifth time, defeating Club Atlético Huracán.

The 2017 Roller Hockey Intercontinental Cup was the 16th edition of the roller hockey tournament known as the Intercontinental Cup, endorsed by World Skate. It was held in the Pavelló Olímpic in Reus, Spain. Benfica won the competition by beating Reus in the final (5–3). It was their second triumph in the Intercontinental Cup.

The Women's Intercontinental Cup is a roller hockey competition organized by World Skate and contested between the championship clubs from World Skate Africa, World Skate Asia, World Skate Oceania, World Skate Europe, and World Skate America.
