The 2010 American Handball Championship , also called PanAmericano 2010, was the 14th official competition for senior men's national handball teams of North, Center, Caribbean and South America. It was held from 22 to 26 June 2010 in Santiago, Chile. It was also acting as the qualifying competition for the 2011 World Men's Handball Championship, securing three vacancies for the World Championship. Brazil, Argentina and Chile got the Tickets for finishing at the first three places.

Pan-American Team Handball Federation

The Pan-American Team Handball Federation (PATHF) is the continental governing body for handball, beach handball, wheelchair handball and snow handball in Americas since 23 May 1977. PATHF includes Northern America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. PATHF's primary functions is to organize competitions for national teams and clubs, and to conduct Men's World Handball Championship and Women's World Handball Championship qualifying tournaments.

The 13th American Handball Championship, also called PanAmericano 2008, was the official competition for senior men's national handball teams of North, Center, Caribbean and South America, held from 24 to 28 June 2008 in São Carlos, Brazil. It also acted as the qualifying competition for the 2009 World Men's Handball Championship, securing three vacancies for the World Championship. These places were earned by Brazil, Argentina and Cuba.

The Chile national handball team is controlled by the Chilean Handball Federation, and takes part in international team handball competitions. It is affiliated to the IHF and the PATHF.

The 2009 Pan American Women's Handball Championship took place in Santiago from June 23–27. It acts as the Pan American qualifying tournament for the 2009 World Women's Handball Championship.

The men's field hockey tournament at the 2011 Pan American Games was held in Guadalajara, Mexico at the Pan American Hockey Stadium from October 20–29.

The 2012 Pan American Handball Championship, also called PanAmericano 2012, was the 15th official competition for senior men's national handball teams of North, Center, Caribbean and South America. It was held from 18–24 June 2012 in Burzaco, Almirante Brown Partido, Argentina. It also acted as the qualifying competition for the 2013 World Men's Handball Championship, securing three vacancies for the World Championship. A decision was announced during the 2011 Pan American Games that the tournament will consist of 12 teams. As the winner of those Pan American Games, Argentina was selected as the host.

The 2014 Pan American Men's Handball Championship, was the 16th official competition for senior men's national handball teams of North, Center, Caribbean and South America. It was held from 23–29 June 2014 in Uruguay. It also acted as the qualifying competition for the 2015 World Men's Handball Championship, securing three vacancies for the World Championship.

Argentina at the 2016 Summer Olympics

Argentina competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. Handball competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto will be held from July 16 to 25 at the Direct Energy Centre. Due to naming rights the arena will be known as the latter for the duration of the games. A total of eight men's and women's teams will compete in each respective tournament.

It also acted as the qualifying competition for the 2017 World Men's Handball Championship in France, securing three vacancies for the World Championship.

The 2017 Pan American Men's Youth Handball Championship the XIII edition of this tournament took place in Santiago, Chile from 15 to 22 April 2017. It acts as a qualifying tournament for the 2017 Men's Youth World Handball Championship.

The 2018 Pan American Men's Handball Championship was the 18th official competition for senior men's national handball teams of North, Central and South America and the Caribbean. It was held from 16 to 24 June 2018 in Nuuk, Greenland. It also acted as the qualifying competition for the 2019 World Men's Handball Championship in Denmark and Germany, securing three vacancies for the World Championship.
