The Peru national rugby team, nicknamed los Tumis, is an emerging team in the Americas and a member of the Confederación Sudamericana de Rugby (Consur).
The Paraguay national rugby team is governed by the Paraguayan Rugby Union. They compete regularly in the South American Rugby Championship, but have yet to qualify for the Rugby World Cup.
The Brazil national rugby union team, nicknamed Tupis, is controlled by the Brazilian Rugby Confederation. Brazil is one of the founding unions of CONSUR and played in the inaugural South American tournament. Brazil has not qualified for a Rugby World Cup, but participated in the first edition of rugby 7s in the Olympics. Brazil currently ranks 3rd in South America and 5th in the Americas region.
The Colombia national rugby union team is classified as a tier three nation by World Rugby. They have thus far not qualified for a Rugby World Cup, but have participated in qualifying tournaments. Colombia made their debut against Mexico in 1996. In 2018, the Colombians won their first significant international honour, winning the inaugural Americas Rugby Challenge, the 'B' championship to the Americas Rugby Championship.

South American Rugby Championship refers to the continental rugby championships for South America, organized by Sudamérica Rugby. The current name of the championships is South American Six Nations, implemented in 2018. Throughout history, South American Championships have also existed for lower divisions of the rugby union championships, as well as youth and women tournaments, and editions for rugby sevens.

Popular sports include baseball, basketball, rugby union, tennis, golf, volleyball, hockey, beach volleyball, motorsports and cricket. South America held its first Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2016. Two years prior to this, major cities in Brazil hosted the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Rugby union in Colombia is a minor but growing sport, with around 15,000 registered players and 80 rugby union clubs in Colombia. The Colombian national team is currently ranked 44th by World Rugby.
The Americas Rugby Championship, often informally called the Americas' Six Nations, is an annual international rugby tournament between six North and South American nations: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, the United States and Uruguay. Originally competed by various interlocking combinations of club, second-tier national and top national sides, the current international tournament has the top national sides competing. The current format provides these top national teams with additional test matches to be counted in the World Rugby Rankings.
Sudamérica Rugby, is the governing body for rugby union within South America and most of Central America. It was created on 14 October 1988 in Asunción on the initiative of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay, counting with a total of 16 unions.
The athletics events at the 2010 South American Games were held from March 20–23 at the Alfonso Galvis Duque Stadium in Medellín, Colombia. The competition also acted at the 4th South American Under-23 Championships. A total of 42 events were contested, 21 by male athletes and 21 by female athletes. The stadium was 1541 metres above sea level, thus some athletes' performances benefited from altitude assistance.
The Sudamérica Rugby Women's Sevens, is the regional championship for women's international rugby sevens in South America. It has been contested since 2004. The tournament is held over two days, typically on a weekend. It is sanctioned and sponsored by Sudamérica Rugby.
The 2002 South American Rugby Championship "B" was the third edition of the competition of the second level national Rugby Union teams in South America.
The 2006 South American Rugby Championship "B" was the seventh edition of the competition of the second level national Rugby Union teams in South America.
The 2011 South American Rugby Championship "B" was the 12th edition of the second tier competition of the leading national Rugby Union teams in South America. It was organised by Peru during August 21–27, 2011 and was won by Venezuela.
The Confederación Sudamericana de Rugby (CONSUR) B Division Championship in Valencia, Venezuela was played out during September 2012. The Championship will double as a 2015 Rugby World Cup qualifier, with the winner to play against the 2012 NACRA Caribbean champions, Bermuda, for the right to playoff against Brazil. The winner of this final match will be promoted to the 2013 CONSUR Division "A" Championship.
The 2014 South American Rugby Championship B division tournament is held at the Estadio Santiago Rambay in Apartadó, Colombia over three match days during August and September 2014. The South American Rugby Championship is organized by the Confederación Sudamericana de Rugby (CONSUR).
The Colombia women's national rugby sevens team participates at several international tournaments. Colombia qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Their biggest achievement is the bronze medal won at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.
María Alejandra Marín Verhelst is a Colombian volleyball player. She is part of the Colombia women's national volleyball team.
ESPN is the Latin American division of ESPN Inc., and broadcasts sports-related programming for the region in Spanish. It was launched on 31 March 1989. Its programming is adapted to the likes of viewers, who tend to prefer football and Hispanic baseball players to the more locally produced programs.
