The 2012–13 Hazfi Cup was the 26th season of the Iranian football knockout competition. Esteghlal was the defending champion, but was eliminated by Sepahan in semi-final. The competition started on 13 December 2012 and was ended on 5 May 2013. Sepahan won the title after defeating Persepolis in final.

The 2015 Hazfi Cup Final was the 28th final since 1975. The match was contested by Zob Ahan and Naft Tehran at Takhti Stadium in Tehran. The match was played on 1 June 2015 and was the final match of the competition. Zob Ahan won 3–1 and won their third title in the competition. They also qualified for the group stages of the 2016 AFC Champions League.

The 2016–17 season was Zob Ahan Football Club's 16th season in the Iran Pro League, and their 21st consecutive season in the top division of Iranian football. They also competed in the Hazfi Cup and AFC Champions League, and had their 46nd year in existence as a football club.
