The 2011 Race of the Year was a non-championship motorcycle race held at the Mallory Park circuit in Leicester, England.
Parkalgar Honda's Sam Lowes fought a hard battle to take victory on the 2011 Buildbase Mallory Park Race of the Year, setting a new Supersport lap record in the process, in very hot and slippery track conditions.
The first start was red-flagged on the second lap, when pole-sitter John Ingram crashed his BMW on the Stebbe Straight, removing Christian Iddon (Triumph) in the process. Both riders were unhurt and unable to take the restart.
It was Bogdanka PTR Honda of James Ellison who took control of the early stages of the race, quickly pulling out a gap on the chasing pack. Lowes was fourth on the opening lap, but moving up to second and set about hunting down Ellison, passing him into the hairpin on his Parkalgar Honda Supersport
Ellison looked to come straight back. Despite constant pressure for the rest of the race, it was Lowes who took the win by 2.4secs.

It often attracted high quality entries from the Moto GP and Superbike World Championship. The first race was won by John Surtees, riding a MV Agusta. The 2011 running of the event was won by Sam Lowes on a Supersport Honda after hard-fought battle with CRT Moto GP rider, James Ellison on another Honda. The 2014 event was won by John Ingram
Samuel Deane Lowes is a British motorcycle racer competing in the Moto2 World Championship aboard a Kalex since 2019, and is part of the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team.
The 2014 British Superbike Championship season was the 27th British Superbike Championship season. Shane Byrne took the championship, riding a Kawasaki for Paul Bird Motorsport. Byrne's fourth title – after previous triumphs in 2003, 2008 and 2012 – saw him set a new record for the series. He scored 11 victories during the season, and was able to win the championship by 62 points ahead of Ryuichi Kiyonari, a three-time series champion. Kiyonari had trailed by 12 points going into the final round of the season at Brands Hatch, but Kiyonari crashed out of contention during a free practice session, and fractured a collarbone in the process. Kiyonari won seven races during the season for the Buildbase BMW team. Third place in the championship was decided in the final race between Milwaukee Yamaha team-mates; a third-place finish for Tommy Bridewell, compared to a fifth place for Josh Brookes, allowed Bridewell to take the position by three points. Brookes took four race victories to his team-mate's single victory at Cadwell Park, which was his first in British Superbikes.
