The 2011-12 Azerbaijan First Division is the second-level of football in Azerbaijan. There are fourteen teams participating in Azerbaijani First Division this season. [1]

At the end of the 2010–11 season, champions FC Absheron and runners-up was initially must be promoted but due financial difficulties, FC Absheron became defunct, while FK Mughan was demoted to first division and replaced by Sumgayit City F.C. [1] A further three places were given to Taraggi FC, Lokomotiv-Bilajary FK and Həkəri FK, who will be debutantes from this season. [1] In November 2011, Həkəri FK' owners announced that club will be dissolved and all of their results in Azerbaijan First Division will be annulled. [2] On 10 April 2012, FK Qaradağ sealed promotion to league after winning first division. [3] However, due decision of Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan about licensing, no clubs from division will be promoted which means all clubs from last season will be remaining in the league. The Azerbaijan Premier League is a professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the Azerbaijan football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. It is contested by 8 clubs, and the league has no promotion and relegation since 18-19 season. Seasons run from August to May, with teams playing 28 matches each. The Premier League champion secures the right to play in UEFA Champions League first qualifying round. Qaradağ Lökbatan FK is an Azerbaijani football club based in Lökbatan.

The Inter Baku 2010–11 season was Inter Baku's tenth Azerbaijan Premier League season, and their second season under manager Kakhaber Tskhadadze. Inter Baku were reigning champions of the Azerbaijan Premier League, but failed to defend their title finishing 5th and missing out on European qualification. Inter also participated in the Azerbaijan Cup, where they lost in the Final to Khazar Lankaran on penalties, and the UEFA Champions League where they were knocked out on penalties in the Second Qualifying Round by Lech Poznań of Poland.

The Simurq PFC 2010–11 season was Simurq's fifth Azerbaijan Premier League season, which they finished in 11th position. They were knocked out of the Azerbaijan Cup by Absheron at the Last 16 stage. It was their first, and only season with Gjoko Hadžievski as their manager.

The Azerbaijan Cup 2013–14 is the 22nd season of the annual cup competition in Azerbaijan. The competition started on 23 October 2012 with three games in the First Round, with the fourth being played a week later on 30 October due to Ağsu's ground being used for the 2013 Azerbaijan Supercup. The 10 Azerbaijan Premier League teams entering at the last 16 stage, joining the four First round winners. The competition is scheduled to end on 28 May 2014 with the Final. Neftchi Baku are the defending champions. Twenty teams are scheduled to compete in this year's competition. The winner of the competition will qualify for the first qualifying round of the 2014–15 UEFA Europa League.

The 2014–15 Azerbaijan First Division is the second-level of football in Azerbaijan. Araz are the defending champions. The season is started on 6 September 2014 and there are sixteen teams participating in the league.

In the 2007–08 season, the Azerbaijan First Division—the second tier of professional football in Azerbaijan—was organised in two groups, A and B, each with 10 teams. The top three teams in each group entered a playoff competition. The winning team was Bakılı PFK of Baku.

The 2015–16 season was Gabala FK's 11th season, and their 10th in the Azerbaijan Premier League, the top-flight of Azerbaijani football. Domestically, Gabala finished 3rd in the Premier League for the third season in a row and reached the Semifinals of the Azerbaijan Cup where they were defeated by Neftchi Baku. In Europe Gabala reached the Group Stages of the UEFA Europa League where they faced PAOK, Krasnodar and Borussia Dortmund before finishing bottom of the group.

The 2015–16 Azerbaijan First Division is the second-level of football in Azerbaijan. Neftchala are the defending champions.
