The 2013 FIVB Volleyball Women's U23 World Championship was held in Tijuana and Mexicali, Mexico, for seven days from 5 to 12 October 2013. This was the first edition of the tournament. [1] China won the tournament and Yao Di was selected Most Valuable Player. [2]
The competition format saw the 12 teams split into two pools of six teams playing in round robin format. The semifinals featured the top two teams from each pool. The FIVB Volleyball Women’s U23 World Championship featured two countries per confederation plus the host Mexico and the highest country in the world rankings not already selected by their confederation, in this case USA. [1]
Each Confederation was allowed to enter two teams into the competition. The qualification criteria were left to the discretion of each continental confederation.

The 2004 women's Olympic volleyball tournament was the eleventh edition of the event, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee. It was held at the Peace and Friendship Stadium located at the Faliro Coastal Zone Olympic Complex between 14 and 28 August 2004.
The 2004 Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup was the third edition of the annual women's volleyball tournament, played by ten countries from June 17 to June 27, 2004 in Mexicali and Tijuana, Mexico. The intercontinental event served as a qualifier for the 2005 FIVB World Grand Prix.
Fabiana Marcelino Claudino is a Brazilian volleyball player who made her debut for the Brazilian national team against Croatia. She captained Brazil to the gold medal at the 2012 Olympics.

Brenda Castillo is a volleyball player from the Dominican Republic and plays as a libero. She was a member of the Dominican Republic national team that won fifth place in the 2012 Summer Olympics, while she was named the tournament's Best Libero. She played in the 2014 World Championship reaching also the fifth place and ranking 17th in the 2010 World Championship and the 2011 FIVB World Cup where her national team ranked eight and the 2015 FIVB World Cup, winning the Best Libero individual award and ranking in seventh place.
The 2009 FIVB Women's Junior Volleyball World Championship was held in Tijuana and Mexicali, Mexico from July 16 to 25, 2009. 16 teams participated in the tournament.
Jeoselyna Rodríguez Santos is a female volleyball player from the Dominican Republic, who won the bronze medal at the 2009 World Grand Champions Cup. She won the 2009 NORCECA Championship gold medal, bronze in the 2007 edition and the gold medal at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games playing with the Dominican Republic national team. She also won the gold medal at the 2010 Pan-American Cup and the silver at the 2009 and 2013 editions.

Samantha Bricio is a Mexican volleyball professional player, the youngest player to play for the Mexico national team in its history. Bricio played in the 2009 FIVB Girls Youth World Championship and again in 2011, finishing twelfth. She received the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games Best Scorer and Best Server awards and the Best Scorer award in the 2011 Youth Pan-American Cup, 2011 Junior Pan-American Cup and the 2013 Pan-American Cup.

The Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship, previously the AVC Cup Women's Club Tournament, is an annual continental club volleyball competition organised by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), the sport's continental governing body. The competition was first contested in 1999 in Thailand. It was not held in 2003 and 2020 due to 2002–2004 SARS outbreak and COVID-19 pandemic respectively.
