Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport in which gymnasts perform individually or in groups on a floor with an apparatus: hoop, ball, clubs, ribbon and rope. The European Championships is a multi-sport tournament which brings together the existing European Championships of some of the continent's leading sports every four years. The inaugural edition in 2018 was staged by the host cities of Berlin, Germany and Glasgow, United Kingdom between 2 and 12 August. The second edition in 2022 took place in Munich, Germany. A host for the third edition has not been confirmed.

In international sport, a South African team of 68 athletes competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics. South Africa hosted the African football tournament, 2016 Africa Futsal Cup of Nations in April.

The South American Gymnastics Confederation (CONSUGI) organizes South American Gymnastics Championships in different disciplines of gymnastics: men's and women's artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline and tumbling, as well as aerobic gymnastics.

The following were the events of Gymnastics for the year 2014 throughout the world.

The GCC Games is a regional multi-sport event which involves participants from the Gulf Cooperation Council region. The GCC Games, a quadrennial multi-sport event, was established by the union and first held in 2011. There are numerous long-running GCC Championships for individual sports, including: the Gulf Cooperation Council Athletics Championships football, Archery, athletics, Badminton, sailing, basketball, Swimming, Marathon Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, Artistic Swimming, tennis, gymnastics, weightlifting, futsal, snooker, Cycling, Chess and table tennis. The 3rd edition of the game had to be organized in June 2019, but held in 2022 due to the internal issues between the GCC state countries. The 4th edition has been announced and will happen as per the announced dates. For the first time the games will be organized by the new, young and talented faces of GCC team.

Sara Mohmed Rostom is an Egyptian rhythmic gymnast. She represented her country at international competitions.

The 15th Rhythmic Gymnastics Asian Championships and the 20th Junior Asian Gymnastics Championships were held at the Gymnastics Palace in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from 2 to 4 May, 2024. The competition was a qualifying event for the 2024 Olympic Games. The Olympic quotas went to the winners of the all-around events, individual Elzhana Taniyeva and the group representing Uzbekistan.

The 2012 African Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships took place from December 7 to December 14, 2012, in Pretoria, South Africa. The Rembrandt Hall at the University of Pretoria Sports Center hosted the event.

Maisa Ghazouani is a Tunisian rhythmic and aerobic gymnast. She's a multiple medalist at the African Championships.

Amina Chtiba is a retired Tunisian rhythmic gymnast. She represented her country in international competitions.

Julene van Rooyen is a retired South African rhythmic gymnast. She's a multiple African Championships medalist.
