The Chalinze by-election was a by-election held in Tanzania for the parliamentary constituency of Chalinze. It was triggered by the death of Saidi Bwanamdogo, the previous Member of Parliament (MP) who had held the seat for the Chama Cha Mapinduzi since 2010. [1] The by-election took place on 6 April 2014 and the CCM candidate won by a landslide. [2]

Jakaya Kikwete Tanzanian politician and 5th president

Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete is a Tanzanian politician who was the fourth president of Tanzania, in office from 2005 to 2015. Prior to his election as president, he was the Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1995 to 2005 under his predecessor, Benjamin Mkapa. He also served as the chairperson of the African Union from 2008–2009 and the chairman of the Southern African Development Community Troika on Peace, Defence and Security from 2012–2013. 2015 Tanzanian general election General election in Tanzania
