The Holy Cross Crusaders are the athletic teams representing the College of the Holy Cross. They primarily compete in NCAA Division I as members of the Patriot League. In ice hockey, a sport not sponsored by the Patriot League for either sex, the Crusaders are members of two other leagues, with men competing in the Atlantic Hockey Association and women in Hockey East. The men's rowing team is part of the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges. Of its 25 varsity teams, Holy Cross supports 12 men's and 13 women's sports, giving Holy Cross the largest ratio of teams-per-enrollment in the country. Holy Cross's athletic teams for both men and women are known as the Crusaders.

The top 11 seeds will get the first round bye and the top 4 seeds will get the double bye. The 2014 championship game will be nationally televised on ESPNU. Fordham defeated Dayton 63-51 to win their first A-10 Tournament in school history. With that win, the Rams received the Atlantic 10 Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Tournament.

The 2014 Big South women's basketball tournament was the postseason women's basketball tournament for the Big South Conference, taking place March 4–9, 2014, at the HTC Center in Conway, South Carolina. The 2015 Southland Conference men's basketball tournament, a part of the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, took place March 11–14 at the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas. The winner of the tournament received the Southland Conference's automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA tournament. Two programs in their second year of the transition from NCAA Division II to Division I, Abilene Christian and Incarnate Word, were ineligible for the tournament. Three programs were ineligible for the tournament for failure to meet enhanced NCAA Academic Performance Rating (APR) requirements. Those teams were Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist, and Lamar. The three teams are part of a group of nine NCAA teams ineligible for 2015 post season basketball play. With the departure of Oral Roberts to the Summit League, only eight conference teams remain eligible for the tournament.

The 2014–15 NCAA Division I women's basketball season began in November and ended with the Final Four in Tampa, Florida, April 5–7. Practices officially began on October 3.

The 2016 Patriot League men's basketball tournament was played March 1, 3, 6 and 9 with the higher seed in each matchup hosting at their respective campus sites. The tournament champion, Holy Cross, received the League's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

The 2014 Pac-12 Conference women's basketball tournament was the 2014 edition of the Pac-12 Conference's championship tournament. It was held at the KeyArena in Seattle, Washington from March 6–9, 2014. USC defeated Oregon State 71-62 to win their first Pac-12 Tournament in school history.

The 2020 Patriot League women's basketball tournament was the postseason women's basketball tournament for the Patriot League which was scheduled to be held from March 7 to March 15 at campus sites of the higher seed. The winner would have earned an automatic bid to the NCAA women's tournament. On March 12, the NCAA announced that the tournament was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 2022 Ivy League women's basketball tournament was the scheduled postseason women's basketball tournament for the Ivy League of the 2021–22 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. It was held March 11 and 12, 2022, at the Lavietes Pavilion on the campus of Harvard University in Boston. Princeton won its third Ivy League championship, earning an automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament, the team's ninth appearance.

The 2013–14 Mid-American Conference women's basketball season began with practices in October 2013, followed by the start of the 2013–14 NCAA Division I women's basketball season in November. Conference play began in January 2014 and concluded in March 2014. Bowling Green won the regular season title with a record of 17–1 by one game over Central Michigan. Crystal Bradford of Central Michigan was named MAC player of the year.
