The 2008 UEFS Futsal Men's Championship was the eighth UEFS futsal championship held in Belgium, with 8 national teams. The matches were played in Antwerp, Liège, Limbourg, La Louvière and Namur, from March 20 to March 24, 2008.

The UEFS Futsal European Women's Championships or Eurofutsal was the championship for futsal national teams in Europe. It was first held in 2001 and played every 3 years until 2007, and every 2 years since then. The tournament was organized by the European Union of Futsal.

The 2007 UEFS Futsal Women's Championship was the 3rd women's UEFS futsal championship, held in Luhačovice, from 12 December to 16 December.

The World Futsal Association (AMF) is the governing body of futsal for both fully and non-independent states or regions, headquartered in Asuncion, Paraguay. It was founded on 25 July 1971 as the International Futsal Federation (FIFUSA) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; on 1 December 2002, the organization was replaced, changed its name to Spanish version Asociación Mundial de Futsal (AMF).

The Italian Football Sala Federation (acronym of FIFS} is the Italian sports federation that promotes nationally the Football Sala, indoor soccer or futsal, played with the Rules of the Asociación Mundial de Futsal. It organizes national, international and friendly tournaments for national and club teams / representatives, amateur events and competitions for the disabled. He also organized the Topolino Trophy five times, in collaboration with The Walt Disney Company Italia, as well as the Mediterranean Cup and the Mundialito Cup. It is based in Milan and the current President is Axel Paderni, in office since July 2009. The 2012 UEFS Futsal Men's Championship was the tenth men's UEFS futsal championship, held in Brest (Belarus) from May 14 to 19, with 9 national teams. Belgium won their first ever European championship defeating the Czech Republic 4-1 in the final.

Futsal has been played in Italy on an organised basis since 1987.
