The ninth World Cup of Softball was held between July 7–13, 2014 in Irvine, California. The competing national teams was the United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, the Philippines, Chinese Taipei and Venezuela. [1]

The World Cup of Softball is an annual softball tournament. The first eight World Cups were held at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The competition is governed by the Amateur Softball Association, which is also headquartered in Oklahoma City.

Irvine, California Charter City in California, United States

Irvine is a master-planned city in Orange County, California, United States in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The Irvine Company started developing the area in the 1960s and the city was formally incorporated on December 28, 1971. The 66-square-mile (170 km2) city had a population of 212,375 as of the 2010 census; in 2018 the California Department of Finance estimated the city's population at 276,176.

2002 World Junior Championships in Athletics

The 2002 World Junior Championships in Athletics were held in Kingston, Jamaica from July 16 to July 21, 2002.

The Women's Softball World Championship is a fastpitch softball tournament for women's national teams held historically every four years, now every two years, by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC). The tournament, originally known as the ISF Women's World Championship, was sanctioned by the International Softball Federation (ISF) until that body's 2013 merger with the International Baseball Federation to create the WBSC. The number of teams in the tournament began at five in its inaugural event in 1965, went to a high of 28 for the 1994 edition, and now the WBSC Code legislates that the maximum number of teams that may participate is 16. There are qualifying tournaments that determine which countries will play at the World Championship.

Chinese Taipei national baseball team national sports team

The Chinese Taipei baseball team is the national team of Taiwan. It is governed by the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association. The team is ranked fourth in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation, behind the United States, Japan, and South Korea respectively. They have consistently maintained top positions in international baseball competitions. The team is usually made of professionals from Taiwan's Chinese Professional Baseball League, Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, and Major League Baseball or Minor League Baseball from the United States.

The 1980 Davis Cup was the 69th edition of the most important tournament between national teams in men's tennis. 52 teams would enter the competition, 30 in the Europe Zone, 12 in the Americas Zone, and 10 in the Eastern Zone.

The 1982 Federation Cup was the 20th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. The tournament was held at the Decathlon Club in Santa Clara, CA, United States, from 19–25 July. The United States won their record seventh consecutive title, defeating West Germany in the final without losing a rubber.

The 1990 Federation Cup was the 28th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. The tournament was held at the Peachtree World of Tennis in Norcross, GA, United States, from 21–29 July. The United States defeated the Soviet Union in the final, giving the USA their 14th and 2nd consecutive title.

The Australia national baseball team has participated in nine of the International Baseball Federation World Cup tournaments. Australia has made it to the quarter finals of a tournament three times—1998, 2007 and 2009— and its best result was in the most recent tournament held in 2009, in which Australia placed 5th.

The 17th FINA World Championships were held in Budapest, Hungary from 14 to 30 July 2017.

Swimming at the 2012 Summer Paralympics

Swimming at the 2012 Paralympic Games was held from 30 August to 8 September 2012 at the London Aquatics Centre in London, UK. The competition consisted of 148 events, across multiple classifications, and all swum in a long course (50m) pool. Up to 600 swimmers swum in the Games.

The eleventh World Cup of Softball was held from July 5, 2016 to July 10, 2016, in Oklahoma City. The competing national teams were Australia, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Czech Republic, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Puerto Rico, United States, United States Elite, and Venezuela.
