The Women's College World Series (WCWS) is the final portion of the NCAA Division I Softball Tournament for college softball in the United States. Eight teams participate in the WCWS, which begins with a double-elimination tournament. In other words, a team is eliminated when it has lost two games. After six teams have been eliminated, the remaining two teams compete in a best-of-three series to determine the Division I WCWS National Champion.

OGE Energy Field at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium is a softball-specific ballpark located inside the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States. It seats 13,000 and is the site of the annual Women's College World Series.

The USA Softball International Cup previously known as the World Cup of Softball, is an annual softball tournament. The first eight World Cups were held at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The competition is governed by USA Softball, which is also headquartered in Oklahoma City. The name was changed in 2018 due to WBSC Event Name Regulations. In 2018 it was held at Bill Barber Park in Irvine, CA, and in 2019 at Olympic Stadium in Columbus, GA.

The third World Cup of Softball was held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma USA between July 12 and July 16, 2007. USA won their second World Cup by defeating Japan 3-0 in the Championship Game.

Chelsea Rae Thomas is an American, former collegiate All-American, professional right-handed softball pitcher, originally from Pleasantville, Iowa. Thomas pitched for the Missouri Tigers in the Big 12 Conference and Southeastern Conference; Thomas is the career leader in wins and strikeouts for the school. She ranks top-10 for no hitters (11) and perfect games (3) in the NCAA Division I. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, she attended Pleasantville High School. She played on Team USA softball. Thomas and was drafted #20 in the National Pro Fastpitch and won a title in 2014. She is currently an Assistant Coach to the McKendree University softball team.

Keilani Johanna Ricketts Tumanuvao is an American, former collegiate All-American, pro All-Star left-handed hitting softball pitcher. She attended Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, and attended the University of Oklahoma from 2010-2013, where she was the starting pitcher and helped to lead the Sooners to the 2013 NCAA Division I national softball title. As a member of the United States women's national softball team she won 2011 World Cup of Softball. Ricketts currently plays for the USSSA Pride in the National Pro Fastpitch. She is the Sooners career leader in wins and strikeouts. She also ranks for career records in both the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA Division I, where she is one three players to win 100 games with 1,000 strikeouts and hit 50 home runs.

The seventh World Cup of Softball was held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma USA between June 27 and July 2, 2012. The competing national teams were the United States, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Canada, Netherlands and Australia. Some games were televised on the ESPN family of channels, and they were all broadcast online on ESPN3.

Patricia Marie Gasso is an American softball coach for the Oklahoma Sooners. She has been the head softball coach at the University of Oklahoma since 1995. She has led the Sooners team to six national championships and has compiled a career record of 1,381–342–2 and a winning percentage of .801.

Rachel Lauren Garcia is an American, former collegiate four-time All-American softball pitcher and current volunteer assistant head coach for San Diego State. She played for the UCLA Bruins and led the Bruins to the 2019 Women's College World Series championship, where she was named the Most Outstanding Player.

Jocelyn Aloha Pumehana Alo is an American former college softball player for the Oklahoma Sooners. As a freshman in 2018, she was named NFCA National Freshman of the Year, and named USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year in 2021 and 2022. She is the NCAA Division I career leader in home runs. Alo was drafted first overall by the Smash It Vipers in the inaugural Women's Professional Fastpitch draft.

Marshaylee Knighten is an American professional softball player for the USSSA Pride and current assistant head coach for the San Diego Toreros softball team. She previously played college softball for Oklahoma, where she led the team to four consecutive Women's College World Series appearances from 2016 to 2019, and won the national championship as a Freshman in 2016 and Sophomore in 2017. She was named WCWS Most Outstanding Player in 2017.

Jayda Coleman is an American college softball player for the Oklahoma Sooners. She also represented the United States at the 2019 U-19 Women's Softball World Cup and USA Softball International Cup.
