The 2015-16 Boa Vista Island League season was the competition of the second-tier football in the island of Boa Vista, Cape Verde. Its started on 16 January and finished on 8 May 2016. The championships were organized by the Boa Vista Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol da Boa Vista, ARFBV). [1] Sport Sal Rei Club won the 9th title and participated into the 2016 Cape Verdean Football Championships.

Boa Vista, also written as Boavista, is a desert-like island that belongs to the Cape Verde Islands. At 631.1 km2 (243.7 sq mi), it is the third largest island of the Cape Verde archipelago.

Académica Operária again was the defending team of the title. A total of 8 clubs participated in the competition [2]
Associação Académica e Operária da Boa Vista is a sports club that its football (soccer) team had played in the Premier division and plays in the Boa Vista Island South Zone Division in Cape Verde. It is based in the island capital of Sal Rei in the island of Boa Vista and plays with Boa Vista's teams in the same stadium. Apart from football (soccer) there are also in the club basketball, volleyball and athletics departments.
A total of 156 goals were scored, ten fewer than the previous season.
Sal Rei scored the most number of goals of the season numbering 30, second was Onze Estrelas who scored 27. Sixth placed Juventude do Norte conceded the most with 32, second was Sanjoanense with 30 and Estância Baixo with 24.
Académica Operária took it at the first week, then Onze Estrelas, Sal Rei first got it at the third round, Sporting had it at the 6th round, Académica Operária retook it at the 7th round, then Onze Estrelas, then Académica Operária retook it for three weeks until Sal Rei retook it at the 12th round and for the remainder of the season.
The championship had a week off in the second week of March due to the parliamentary elections on March 20, the second week of April and the first week of May due to the regional cup competitions.
Desportivo Estância Baixo is a sports club for a football (soccer) team that plays in the Boa Vista Island League in Cape Verde. The team is based in the settlement of Estância de Baixo in the island of Boa Vista and receives assistance from the local government. The club area includes the south of the island, especially Curral Velho. The team has never won any title.
Onze Estrelas Boa Vista or Onze Estrelas Clube de Bofareira is a football (soccer) club that currently plays in the Campeonato Nacional de Cabo Verde and in the Boa Vista Island League in Cape Verde. It is based on the island of Boa Vista and plays in the stadium with a capacity of 1,000 though the village they play is for Bofareira. Its current manager is Tó Monteiro.

The Cape Verdean Football Federation is the governing body of football in Cape Verde. It was founded in 1982, affiliated to FIFA in 1986 and to CAF in 2000. It organizes the national football league and the national team.

Its started on 14 May and finished on 16 July, earlier than the last season. The tournament was organized by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. FC Derby won the 3rd title and did not receive entry to the 2006 CAF Champions League. No second place club would also receive entry to the 2006 CAF Confederation Cup
The 2009 Cape Verdean Football Championship season was the 30th of the competition of the first-tier football in Cape Verde. Its started on 16 April, earlier than the last season and finished on 11 June. The tournament was organized by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. Sporting would win their 8th title and fourth straight after defeating the city's rival Académica. This was the first final competition that featured two clubs from the same island as well as the same city, it happened the following season with Boavista. Sporting Praia's next and final title would win in 2012.
The 2012 Cape Verdean Football Championship season was the 33rd of the competition of the first-tier football in Cape Verde. Its started on 5 May and finished on 7 July, slightly earlier than last year. The tournament was organized by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. Sporting Praia won the ninth title, it would be the club's most recent title win. This time, Sporting Praia did not participate in the 2013 CAF Champions League. No club also participated in the 2013 CAF Confederation Cup. In 2012, Sporting Praia won the first super cup title and would become the first club to win both the championship and the super cup title in the same season.

They did not participate in the 2014 CAF Champions League. In 2014, Mindelense would become the second and most recent club to win both the cup and the super cup title in the same season.
