The 2015 Henrico County Commonwealth's Attorney election was held on November 3, 2015, to elect the Commonwealth's Attorney of Henrico County, Virginia, concurrently with elections to the Senate of Virginia and Virginia House of Delegates. Incumbent Democratic Commonwealth's Attorney Shannon Taylor won reelection to a second term against Republican nominee Tony Pham by a wide margin. [1]

Background

Attorney Shannon Taylor, who had been serving as the incumbent Commonwealth's Attorney having won the previous election against Matthew Geary and Bill Janis, announced her campaign for reelection. On February 23, 2015, Pham announced his candidacy for the Henrico County Commonwealth's Attorney, being the fourth and last Republican to do so. [2] [3] [4]

Republican primary

The Republican primary took place in June 2015 with three candidates, as Tom Shaia had withdrawn from the race. [5] [6] Jeffrey Lee Everhart was predicted to win the primary, leading the primary by a small margin between him and Pham, [7] [8] but after a faulty report from the Pinchbeck Precinct was fixed, Pham lead the primary by 67 points. [9] Pham was later declared the Republican nominee. [10]

Herring conceded defeat at 5:02 PM EST the following day, November 3. Miyares became the first Cuban-American and Hispanic to be elected to statewide office in Virginia. Miyares was later sworn in on January 15, 2022.

The third Tuesday of June. The eleventh district Republican firehouse primary was held May 7, 2022 at the University of North America in Fairfax. The fifth district Republican convention at Hampden-Sydney College in Farmville, the eighth district Republican convention in Springfield, and the tenth district Republican firehouse primary were all held May 21, 2022.

Tony Pham

Tuong Tony Huu Pham is an American attorney who served as an Acting Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement from August 25, 2020 to December 31, 2020. A Vietnamese refugee, Pham emigrated from Saigon to the United States with his family in 1975, gaining citizenship in 1985. He graduated from William & Mary Law School in 1995 and from University of Richmond School of Law in 1999, becoming a prosecutor and earning awards from the Old Dominion Bar Association and Style Weekly.

Shannon Leigh Taylor is an American attorney who is serving as the incumbent Commonwealth's Attorney for Henrico County, Virginia. A graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Richmond School of Law. In 2011, she announced her campaign for the 2011 Henrico County Commonwealth's Attorney election, winning against Bill Janis and Matthew Geary, and subsequently being reelected in 2015 and 2019.

The 2011 Henrico County Commonwealth's Attorney election was held on November 8, 2015, to elect the Commonwealth's Attorney of Henrico County, Virginia, concurrently with elections to the Senate of Virginia and Virginia House of Delegates. Incumbent Republican Commonwealth's Attorney Wade A. Kizer announced that he would be retiring from the position, making it an open contest. Incumbent Attorney General Bob McDonnell was eligible for re-election, but instead opted to successfully run for Governor of Virginia. McDonnell resigned from his position in 2009 to run for governor, being succeeded by his deputy, Bill Mims.
