The 2015 Ho Chi Minh City International Women Football Tournament is an invitational women's football tournament hosted in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. [1] This will be the first time that Vietnam will host an international women's football tournament. [2]
Ho Chi Minh City, also known by its former name of Saigon, is the most populous city in Vietnam with a population of 8.4 million as of 2017. Located in southeastern Vietnam, the metropolis surrounds the Saigon River and covers about 2,061 square kilometres. From 1955 to 1975, Saigon was the capital of the Republic of Vietnam, commonly known as South Vietnam.
Vietnam, officially the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, is the easternmost country on the Indochina Peninsula. With an estimated 94.6 million inhabitants as of 2016, it is the 15th most populous country in the world. Vietnam shares its land borders with China to the north, and Laos and Cambodia to the west. It shares its maritime borders with Thailand through the Gulf of Thailand, and the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia through the South China Sea. Its capital city is Hanoi, while its most populous city is Ho Chi Minh City.
Ho Chi Minh City F.C. won the round-robin tournament, Myanmar U-21 finished second place, Hong Kong settled for third place and the FEU Lady Tamaraws of Philippine-based Far Eastern University finished last. [3]

Far Eastern University (FEU) in the University Belt area, West Sampaloc, City of Manila, is a nonsectarian private university in the Philippines. Created by the merger of Far Eastern College, and the Institute of Accountancy, FEU became a university in 1934 under the guidance of first president Dr. Nicanor B. Reyes, Sr. It has been noted as the leading proprietary university in the Philippines. FEU's campus is noted for a number of historical art deco buildings preserved from the first half of the 20th century.

Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport is the busiest airport in Vietnam with 32.5 million passengers in 2016, and with 38.5 million passengers in 2018 serving Ho Chi Minh City as well as the rest of southeastern Vietnam. As of January 2017, it had a total capacity of only 25 million passengers, which has caused constant congestion and sparked debate for expanding or building a new airport. The 1998 AFF Championship, sponsored by Asia Pacific Breweries and officially known as the 1998 Tiger Cup, was the second edition of the AFF Championship and was held in Vietnam. Group A's matches were played in Ho Chi Minh City with Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, and Philippines. Group B's matches were played in Hanoi with Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Laos.
The 2009 AFF U-19 Youth Championship was the sixth edition of the tournament organized by the ASEAN Football Federation and was hosted by Vietnam for the second time. The matches were played in Ho Chi Minh City from the 4th to the 12th of August 2009. Vietnamese company Kova Paint have become the sponsors of the tournament.
The 2010 AFF U-19 Youth Championship was held from 24 July to 30 July 2010, hosted by Vietnam. Only four teams will be participating, two teams from member associations of the AFF along with associate member Australia, and an invitee team from the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF).
The 2011 AFC U-19 Women's Championship was the 6th edition of the AFC U-19 Women's Championship. Vietnam hosted the tournament from 6 to 16 October 2011. The top 3 teams Japan, North Korea, and China qualified to the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. Japan was later named host of the U-20 Women's World Cup, so their spot was awarded to fourth-place finisher South Korea.

The 2012 V-League season is the 29th season of Vietnam's professional football league and started on 31 December 2011 and finished on 19 August 2012. On 15 December it was announced that the league would change name and would simply be known as the Premier League. Then, it was changed name to Super League.
The football (soccer) tournament at the 2003 Southeast Asian Games was held from 30 November to 12 December in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong and Nam Định of Vietnam. The men's tournament was played by U-23 national teams, while the women's tournament had no age limit.
