Margaret Court defeated the defending champion Billie Jean King in the final, 6–4, 6–1 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 1969 Australian Open. It was her eighth Australian Open title and her 14th major title overall.
The Men's Singles tournament of the 2002 Qatar Open tennis championship took place in Doha, Qatar, between 31 December 2001 and 6 January 2002. 32 players from 17 countries competed in the 5-round tournament. Nikolay Davydenko won in the final 3–6, 6–3, 7–5 against Greg Rusedski. It was Davydenko's 2nd title of the year and 4th title overall.
