The 2015–16 Sunfoil 3-Day Cup was a first-class cricket competition that took place in South Africa from 8 October 2015 to 4 April 2016. [1] The competition was played between the thirteen South African provincial teams and Namibia. Unlike its counterpart, the Sunfoil Series, the matches were three days in length instead of four.

First-class cricket is an official classification of the highest-standard international or domestic matches in the sport of cricket. A first-class match is of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each although, in practice, a team might play only one innings or none at all.

Namibia national cricket team national sports team

The Namibia national cricket team is the team that represents the Republic of Namibia and is governed by Cricket Namibia, an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 1992, and became part of the High Performance Program in 2007. They took part in the 2003 Cricket World Cup in South Africa, though they lost all their games. They have played in each edition of the ICC Intercontinental Cup.

2015–16 Sunfoil Series

The 2015–16 Sunfoil Series was a first-class cricket competition held in South Africa from 17 December 2015 to 10 April 2016. Titans won the tournament following a 10-run victory against Cape Cobras in the final round of the competition.

Western Province finished top of Pool A and KwaZulu-Natal Inland finished top of Pool B, with both teams progressing to the final of the competition. The final was played at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town, with KwaZulu-Natal Inland winning by 46 runs. [2]

Newlands Cricket Ground

Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town is a South African cricket ground. It is the home of the Cape Cobras, who play in the Sunfoil Series, Momentum 1 Day Cup and RamSlam Pro20 competitions. It is also a venue for Test matches, ODIs and T20Is. Newlands is regarded as one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world, being overlooked by Table Mountain and Devil's Peak. It is close to Newlands Stadium, which is a rugby union and football venue. The cricket ground opened in 1888.

The Sunfoil Series is the main domestic first class cricket competition in South Africa, first contested in 1889-90. From 1990-91 it became known as the Castle Cup, from 1996-97 as the Supersport Series and from 2012-13 by The Sunfoil series. The Highveld Lions have won the title the most times.
