The 2016 Atlantic 10 men's basketball tournament was held March 9 through 13, 2016, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The champion earned an automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA tournament.
All 14 Atlantic 10 schools participate in the tournament. Teams will be seeded by the 2015–16 Atlantic 10 Conference season record. The top 10 teams received a first round bye and the top four teams received a double bye. [1]
Teams were seeded by record within the conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records. [2]

The 2014 Atlantic 10 men's basketball tournament was played March 12–16 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. This was a 13 team tournament with the addition of George Mason. The top 11 seeds got the first round bye and the top 4 seeds got a double bye. The 2014 tournament champion received an automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA tournament. The 2014 championship game was nationally televised on CBS for the fourth straight year. The Saint Joseph's Hawks defeated the VCU Rams 65-61 in the championship to earn an automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA tournament.

The 2016 Big Ten men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Big Ten Conference held from March 9 through March 13 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was the nineteenth annual Big Ten men's basketball tournament and was the second tournament to feature 14 teams of the expanded Big Ten, including Maryland and Rutgers. The championship was won by Michigan State who defeated Purdue in the championship game. As a result, Michigan State received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The win marked Michigan State's fifth tournament championship, the most tournament championships by any team in the Big Ten. It was Michigan State's third straight appearance in the championship game and their fourth appearance in the championship in the prior five years. Denzel Valentine was named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

The winner of the tournament receives the conference's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA tournament. The tournament included 14 of the 15 ACC teams due to Louisville's self-imposed postseason ban. This was the 20th consecutive ACC Tournament that featured Duke or UNC in the championship game.

As a result, Davidson received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

It was originally scheduled to be held from March 10 through March 14, 2021, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Due to COVID-19 regulations, the tournament was moved to Richmond, Virginia and was set to be played entirely at the Robins Center and Siegel Center, respectively homes of A-10 members Richmond and VCU.

Since 2020's tournament was never fully completed, the defending champions were the 2018–19 Iona Gaels.
