The 2016 L'Alcúdia International Football Tournament is a football competition which took place in July and August 2016. The 2016 edition was the first to feature only international youth teams. Previous editions have contained a mix of national selections and club selections.

The Torneo Internacional de Fútbol Sub-20 de L'Alcúdia, better known as COTIF, is an annual international invitational football competition for youth teams, open to both clubs and national and autonomous teams, held in L'Alcúdia, Valencia since 1984. Since 2012 it also holds a senior women's football tournament. From the 2016 edition, the men's tournament will feature international under-20 teams only.

The Argentina national under-20 football team is the representative of Argentina in FIFA sponsored tournaments that pertain to that age level.

The Costa Rica national under-20 football team represents Costa Rica in international football at this age level and is controlled by the Costa Rican Football Federation.

Football at the 2018 Mediterranean Games took place between 22 June and 30 June at the Estadi Municipal de Reus, Estadi Municipal de La Pobla de Mafumet and Estadi Municipal de Calafell. Associations affiliated with FIFA were invited to send their men's U-18, U-19 and U-21 national teams. There was no women's tournament on this occasion.
