Rayshaun Kizer is an American football coach who is the defensive coordinator of the Tucson Sugar Skulls of the Indoor Football League (IFL). He was the former head coach and defensive coordinator of the Massachusetts Pirates of the Indoor Football League (IFL) and of the Omaha Beef of Champions Indoor Football (CIF). He is also a former National Football League, Canadian Football League, and Arena Football League defensive back. He played his college football at Walsh University and graduated with his bachelor's degree in Computer Science. The 2016 Arena Football League season was the 29th season in the history of the Arena Football League. Prior to the start of the season, the league contracted to eight teams. The 16-game regular season then began on April 1, 2016 and ended on August 1, 2016. The league, however, kept its eight-team playoff format, which meant that every club qualified for the postseason.

The 2016 Jacksonville Sharks season was the seventh season for the franchise in the Arena Football League (AFL). The team was coached by Les Moss for the first fourteen games of the season before he was fired and replaced by interim head coach Bob Landsee. The Sharks played their home games at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

The 2016 Portland Steel season was the third and final season for the arena football franchise in the Arena Football League (AFL). The team was coached by Ron James and played their home games at the Moda Center.
