Incumbent mayor Stuart Crosby announced in 2014 that he would not seek re-election. [1]

The 2019 Tauranga mayoral election was part of the New Zealand local elections that were 12 October 2019 to elect the Mayor of Tauranga. It was won by Tenby Powell who defeated the incumbent mayor Greg Brownless.

The 2010 Oakland mayoral election was held on November 2, 2010 to elect the mayor of Oakland, California, electing Jean Quan to be their mayor. In early August 2010, incumbent mayor Ron Dellums announced that he would not be seeking reelection to a second term. In November 2010, Oakland also instant-runoff voting to elect its mayor, three city council races and four other local offices, with the elections for the mayor and Oakland council district four requiring multiple rounds of counting. Oakland used instant-runoff voting in the city's remaining elected offices in 2012. IRV was again used in 2014 and 2016, including in the 2014 mayoral election in which incumbent Jean Quan was defeated by Libby Schaaf.

The 2022 Invercargill mayoral election took place on 8 October 2022 as part of the New Zealand local elections. Incumbent mayor Tim Shadbolt unsuccessfully sought a tenth term against nine other candidates, losing to his deputy Nobby Clark.

The 2022 Tauranga by-election for the New Zealand House of Representatives was held on 18 June 2022 in the Tauranga electorate, after the sitting member, former National Party leader Simon Bridges, resigned from parliament. The National Party's Sam Uffindell won the by-election in a landslide result, ahead of the Labour Party's Jan Tinetti.
