The 2008 Big East men's basketball tournament, a part of the 2007-08 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, took place from March 12–March 15, 2008 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Its winner received the Big East Conference's automatic bid to the 2008 NCAA tournament. It is a single-elimination tournament with four rounds and the four highest seeds received byes in the first round. The 12 Big East teams with the best conference records were invited to participate. Georgetown, the Big East regular season winner, received the number one seed in the tournament.

The seven-match tournament took place at the Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Missouri. The eight-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The West Virginia Mountaineers were the defending champions, but they were eliminated from the 2017 tournament by virtue of losing the penalty shoot-out tiebreaking procedure following a tie with the TCU Horned Frogs in the semifinals. The Baylor Bears won the title, defeating TCU 2–1 in overtime in the final. This was the second Big 12 tournament title for the Baylor women's soccer program and first for head coach Paul Jobson.

They were coached by LaVall Jordan, in his second year as head coach of his alma mater. The Bulldogs played their home games at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana as members of the Big East Conference. They finished the season 16–17, 7–11 in Big East play which tied them for eighth place. As the No. 9 seed in the Big East tournament, they were defeated by Providence in the quarterfinals. The Bulldogs received an at-large bid to the NIT as the No. 5 seed in the TCU bracket. There they were defeated in the first round by Nebraska to end the season.

All five of their titles have come in the last six years. As tournament champions, Georgetown earned the Big East's automatic berth into the 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament.

They were unable to defendtheir title after not qualifying for the tournament and finishing in last place in the regular season standings. Georgetown finished as tournament champions after defeating Providence 2–1 in overtime in the final. This is the fifth title in program history for Georgetown, all of which have come under Head Coach Brian Wiese. As tournament champions, Georgetown earned the Big East's automatic place in the 2021 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament.

The five-match tournament took place at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Maryland for the Semifinals and Finals, while the First Round games were hosted by the higher seeded team. The six-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The defending champions were the Georgetown Hoyas. They successfully defended their title by defeating Xavier in the final 1–0. This is the sixth title in program history for Georgetown and head coach Dave Nolan. All six of their titles have come in the last seven years and Georgetown has now won three straight titles. As tournament champions, Georgetown earned the Big East's automatic berth into the 2022 NCAA Division I women's soccer tournament.
