The Copa de la Reina de Baloncesto 2017 was the 55th edition of the Spanish Queen's Basketball Cup. It is managed by the Spanish Basketball Federation – FEB and was held between February 10 and 12, 2017.

The Copa de la Reina de Baloncesto is an annual cup competition for Spanish women's basketball teams. The first edition of the competition, originally named Women's Senior Basketball Championship, took place in 1943, which makes it the oldest Spanish women's basketball competition, but it was only since 1978, when it took its current name, that it has been carried every year. The 2012 cup marked the 50th edition of the competition.

Qualification

Prior to the start of the season, the rules of the Spanish Basketball Federation established that the three first teams classified at the end of the first leg of the 2016–17 Liga Femenina, together with the club representing the host province would play the Competition. If the host finished between the three first teams, the fourth classified would also participate.

The 2016–17 Liga Femenina de Baloncesto is the 54th edition of the Spanish premier women's basketball championship. Regular season will start on 28 September 2016 and will finish on 1 April 2017. Playoffs will be played between 5 April and 3 May 2017.

However, on 15 November 2016, the Spanish Basketball Federation expanded the competition to the first six qualified teams at the half of the season, removing the spot for a host team. The two best teams will qualify directly to the semifinals while the other four teams will join the competition in the round of quarterfinals. [1]

On 21 December 2016, the Spanish Basketball Federation announced Girona as host city of the event. [2]

The 2011–12 OK Liga Femenina was the fourth edition of Spain's premier women's rink hockey championship, running from 5 November 2011 to 2 June 2012. Defending champion CP Voltregà won its seventh title including the old Spanish Championship. Girona CH was the runner-up, and Igualada HC and Gijón HC also qualified for the 2013 European League. On the other hand, PHC Sant Cugat and previous season's runner-up CE Arenys de Munt were relegated. Despite losing all 26 games Vigo Stick Traviesas was again spared.
