The 2017 Kakinada Municipal Corporation election was held on August 10, 2017. Its purpose was to elect members for all 48 wards of the municipal corporation. [1] [2] After three decades of running, the Telugu Desam Party won the election, securing 32 of the 48 seats. [3]

Rajahmundry, officially known as Rajamahendravaram, is a city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the seventh most populated city in the state. During British rule, the District of Rajahmundry was created in the Madras Presidency in 1823. It was reorganised in 1859 and bifurcated into the Godavari and Krishna districts. Rajahmundry was the headquarters of Godavari district, which was further bifurcated into East Godavari and West Godavari districts in 1925.
