The 2017 NECBL season was the 24th season of the New England Collegiate Baseball League, a wood bat collegiate summer baseball league. The same thirteen teams from 2016 returned for the 2017 season, and the divisional alignment remained the same. The playoff format for this season was slightly altered, reducing the number of teams that make it from eight to six. [1] This meant a bracket structure where the top seed in each division earned a first-round bye, with the second and third-seeded teams battling in a one-game "Wild Card" matchup. [1] Another change for the 2017 campaign was moving the All-Star Game farther back in the summer, to July 30, more than a week later than prior seasons. [1]
