Anambra State is a Nigerian state, located in the southeastern region of the country. According to the 2006 census report there are over 4.1 million residents in the state. The state name was formed in 1976 from the former East Central State, the state is named after Omambala River, a river that runs through the state. Anambra is the anglicised version the British Colonialists used to refer to the Omambala. The state capital is Awka, a rapidly growing city that increased in population from approximately 300,000 to 2.5 million between 2006 and 2018. The city of Onitsha, a historic port city from the pre-colonial era, remains an important centre of commerce within the state.
Aguata is a Local Government Area in Anambra State in Nigeria, with its headquarters in Aguata, a major part of which falls into the major commercial town of Ekwulobia, while the smallest part falls within Aguluezechukwu. There has been an age-long contention on this issue between the locals of Aguluezechukwu and Ekwulobia, with both towns claiming the status of the headquarters on account of ownership claim to the 'Aguata land'. This state of affairs caused the Government of Anambra State to officially declare that the headquarters of Aguata Local Government Area should be Aguata in a bid to settle the conflict.
Chris Nwabueze Ngige is the current Minister of Labour and Employment (Nigeria), appointed to serve in two terms under President Muhammadu Buhari's administration. He was elected senator for Anambra Central Constituency in April 2011. He was the governor of Anambra State in Nigeria from May 2003 to March 2006 under the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Chris Ngige is currently a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka also called UNIZIK or NAU in short is a Federal university in Nigeria. It consists of two campuses in Anambra State. Its main campus is located in Awka while the other campus is located at Nnewi. There are also other campuses of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. These include Agulu in Aniocha local government area and Ifite-Ogwuari in Ayamelum local government area in Anambra State. It is one of the federal universities which are overseen and accredited by the National Universities Commission. The university is named after Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. The academic staff of the University belong to Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The staff Union is known to grant scholarship to indigent students just like other philanthropists. It has a total population of about 34,000 students.
Ogidi is an Igbo village, the headquarters of Idemili North Local Government area, Anambra State, Nigeria. It has an estimated population of 70,000 and has as its neighbours Abatete, Ṅkpọr, Ụmụnnachị, Ụmụoji, Ogbụnike and Ụmụdiọka. Ogidi is best known for its mid-July annual Nwafor Festival, an 11-day festival in July that takes place after cultivation of yams and included prayers for a good season. It usually starts on the first Friday of the month.
Nkpor is a town in Idemili North local government area of Anambra state. The town of Nkpor had an estimated population of 109,377 in 2007. It is attached to the much larger city of Onitsha to the west, Nkwelle-Ezunaka to the north, Ogidi to the east and Obosi to the south. The name 'Nkpor' is derived from the adulteration of the Igbo word nkpogha meaning 'repositioning'.
Nnewi South is a Local Government Area in Anambra South Senatorial Zone of Anambra State, Nigeria. Its population is approximately 1 million. Ukpor is the headquarters of Nnewi South. Other towns that make up the local government include: Akwaihedi, Amichi, Azigbo, Ebenator Ozulogu, Ekwulumili, Ezinifite, Osumenyi, Unubi and Utuh. The current Transition Committee Chairman of the Local Government is Hon. Chieloka Okoye, who assumed office in 2019.

Joy Emodi was elected Senator for the Anambra North constituency of Anambra State, Nigeria, taking office on 20 February 2005 after the election of Emmanuel Anosike was annulled. She was re-elected in 2007, but her second election was appealed by Alphonsus Obi Igbeke, the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) candidate. After protracted hearings, Igbeke was declared the winner on 25 March 2010.

Ekwulobia is an Igbo-speaking town in southeastern Nigeria. It is the one of the largest cities in Anambra State after Awka, Onitsha, and Nnewi and their respective conurbations. It is the headquarters of the present Aguata local government and the headquarters of the old Aguata Local Government that comprised the present Aguata local government and Orumba North and South local governments.
Awka-Etiti, historically known as Awka-Diedo ; later mentioned as Awka-Nkakwu (Okankaku) by colonial authors, is an affluent town comprising seven villages in Idemili South local government area of Anambra state, Nigeria. The seven villages of Awka-Etiti in order of age established are: Nkolofia, Umunocha, Ejighinandu, Iruowelle, Umudunu, Nnaba and Ogunzele.
Uche Lilian Ekwunife, is a Nigerian politician, and member of the 9th Nigerian Senate representing the people of Anambra Central Senatorial District of Anambra State and she is known as one of the most active female senators in the House.
Oseloka Henry Obaze (OHO) is a native of Ochuche Umuodu in Anambra State, Nigeria. He is a Nigerian diplomat, politician, author and a retired United Nations official who served the organization as an international civil servant between 1991 and 2012. Prior to working at the United Nations, he worked as a career Foreign Service Officer (FSO) in the Nigerian Diplomatic Service from 1982-1991. Following his retirement from the United Nations, Oseloka H. Obaze served as Secretary to the State Government of Anambra State, Nigeria from June, 2012 till June, 2015 under former Governor Peter Obi and incumbent Governor Willie Obiano.

The 2021 Anambra State gubernatorial election took place on November 6, 2021, to elect the Governor of Anambra State. Incumbent APGA Governor Willie Obiano was term-limited and could not seek re-election to a third consecutive term. APGA nominee, former Central Bank Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, retained the office for APGA with a 24% win over PDP nominee, former Transcorp CEO Valentine Ozigbo.
