The 2019 Ekiti State House of Assembly election was held on March 9, 2019, to elect members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly in Nigeria. All the 26 seats were up for election in the Ekiti State House of Assembly. [1] [2]

Funminiyi Afuye from APC representing Ikere I constituency was elected Speaker, while Hakeem Jamiu from APC representing Irepodun/Ifelodun II constituency was elected Deputy Speaker. [3] [4]

Irepodun/Ifelodun is a Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria. Irepodun/Ifelodun is predominantly a homogeneous society and carefully populated by Yoruba speaking people of the South West of Nigeria. It has an area of 356 km2 and a population of 129,149 at the 2006 census. The major religions of the people are Christianity and Islam while a percentage of the people are traditional religion worshippers.

Former Secretary to the State Government Abiodun Oyebanji held the office for the APC by a 30% margin over first runner-up and SDP nominee—former Governor Olusegun Oni.

The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Ekiti State will be held on 25 February 2023, to elect the 3 federal Senators from Ekiti State, one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election, as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives; with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.

Funminiyi Afuye was a Nigerian politician and lawyer. He was the commissioner of Ekiti State Ministry of Information and a two-time member of the Ekiti State Assembly representing Ikere constituency I.

Gboyega Aribisogan is a Nigerian politician who served as speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly in November 2022. He is a two-term lawmaker representing Ikole I constituency. Aribisogan who hails from Ijesha-Isu in Ikole Local Government Area, in the North senatorial district of Ekiti State was elected on 15 November 2022 as the speaker of the house following the demise of Funminiyi Afuye. He was impeached on 21 November 2022 six days after taking office.

The 2023 Nigerian presidential election in Kwara State will be held on 25 February 2023 as part of the nationwide 2023 Nigerian presidential election to elect the president and vice president of Nigeria. Other federal elections, including elections to the House of Representatives and the Senate, will also be held on the same date while state elections will be held two weeks afterward on 11 March.
