Thirteen UCI Professional Continental teams, three UCI Continental teams, and the Luxembourg national team made up the seventeen teams that participated the race. Each team entered seven riders, except for Bardiani–CSF, W52 / FC Porto, and the Luxembourg national team, which each entered six, for a starting peloton of 116 riders. Luca Wackermann is an Italian cyclist, who last rode for UCI ProTeam Team Polti Kometa. In October 2020, he was named in the startlist for the 2020 Giro d'Italia. However, at the end of stage 4, Wackermann was involved in a crash caused by a low-flying helicopter that blew some crash barriers into him. Wackermann suffered a broken nose and a suspected broken back in the incident.
Michael Bresciani is an Italian former professional cyclist, who rode professionally in 2015 and from 2017 to 2020, for the Roth–Škoda, Bardiani–CSF and D'Amico–UM Tools teams.
