The women's middleweight is a competition featured at the 2019 World Taekwondo Championships, and was held at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, United Kingdom on 15 and 16 May.
Middleweights were limited to a maximum of 73 kilograms in body mass.
Espinoza, three times Olympic medalist faced twenty-two years old Lee Da-bin from South Korea in the final who had never competed in a World Championships before. A body shot for Lee gave her an early 2–0 lead. Espinoza responded with a punch but Lee scored few more points to finish the first round 7–1. Lee carried on where she left off at the start of the second to finish it 14–2. In the third round Lee maintained her intensity and landed a number of shots to the body and head shots to win her first ever World Championships 22–2.

Andy Lee is an Irish former professional boxer who competed from 2006 to 2017. He held the WBO middleweight title from 2014 to 2015, and in doing so became the first member of the travelling community to win a major world title. He is the second cousin of lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. During his professional career, Lee was trained by the late Emmanuel Steward.
Sakio Bika is a Cameroonian-born Australian professional boxer. He held the WBC super-middleweight title from 2013 to 2014, and previously the IBO super-middleweight title from 2008 to 2010. In 2015 he challenged once for the unified light-heavyweight world title, and in 2007 won the third season of The Contender reality TV series.
Sergiy Vyacheslavovich Derevyanchenko, is a Ukrainian professional boxer who has challenged three times for world middleweight titles; the IBF title in 2018; the IBF and IBO titles in 2019; and the WBC title in 2020. As an amateur, he won the bronze medal at middleweight at the 2007 World Amateur Boxing Championships. As of February 2021, he is ranked as the world's fourth best active middleweight by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board, eighth by BoxRec and fourth by The Ring magazine.
Billy Joe Saunders is a British professional boxer. He is the first fighter from the Travelling community to win world championships in two weight classes, including the WBO middleweight title from 2015 to 2018 and the WBO super-middleweight title from 2019 to 2021. At regional level he held the European, British, and Commonwealth middleweight titles between 2012 and 2015. Saunders represented Great Britain at the 2008 Olympics as an amateur, reaching the second round of the welterweight bracket. In the same year, he won gold at the EU Championships.
Christopher Livingstone Eubank Jr. is a British professional boxer. He held the World Boxing Association (WBA) interim middleweight title twice between 2015 and 2021. He also held the International Boxing Organization (IBO) super-middleweight title twice between 2017 and 2019. At regional level, he held the British middleweight title in 2016. He is the son of former two-division world champion of boxing, Chris Eubank.

Brian Rose is a British professional boxer. He challenged once for the WBO light middleweight title in 2014. At regional level, he held the British light middleweight title from 2011 to 2012.
Liam Mark Smith is a British professional boxer. He held the WBO light-middleweight title from 2015 to 2016. At regional level, he has held multiple light-middleweight championships, including the British and Commonwealth titles between 2012 and 2015. Alex Sandro Silva Pereira is a Brazilian professional mixed martial artist and former kickboxer. He currently competes in the Light Heavyweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and a former UFC Middleweight Champion. He is the first UFC fighter to become champion in both the Middleweight and Light heavyweight divisions of the organization. He is also one of 9 fighters in UFC history to become champion in two different weight divisions. In kickboxing, he is a former Glory middleweight and light heavyweight champion, and is the first and only fighter to have held Glory titles in two weight classes simultaneously. Pereira also competed in promotions such as It's Showtime and SUPERKOMBAT Fighting Championship in kickboxing, and for Jungle Fight and Legacy Fighting Alliance in MMA. As of 14 November 2023, he is #5 in the UFC men's pound-for-pound rankings.

She won fourteen medals in her career, including a silver in the 2001 East Asian Games in Osaka, Japan, achieved fifth-place finishes at the 2003 World Judo Championships, and represented her nation South Korea in the 63-kg class at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
