The 2020 NAB AFL Women's Rising Star award was presented to the player adjudged the best young player during the 2020 AFL Women's season. [1] Isabel Huntington of the Western Bulldogs won the award with 33 votes. [2]
Every round, two nominations will be given to standout young players who performed well during that particular round. To be eligible for nomination, players must have been under 21 years of age on 1 January 2020, not have been suspended during the season and never previously been nominated. [1]

The AFL Rising Star is an Australian rules football award presented annually to the player adjudged the best young player in the Australian Football League (AFL) for the year. It was first presented in the 1993 season, and was won by Nathan Buckley, playing for the Brisbane Bears. The recipient of the AFL Rising Star has been awarded the Ron Evans Medal since 2007, named in honour of the former AFL Commission chairman following his death that year.

Newton was named in the team's best 4 times in the 6 games she played in the 2020 AFL Women's season, with her collecting career high amounts of disposals in rounds 4 and 6. She received 1 best and fairest vote for her performance in round 4 of the 2020 season. It was revealed that Newton had signed a contract extension with the club on 16 June 2021, after playing every game possible for the club that season.
