Suceava County is a county of Romania. Most of its territory lies in the southern part of the historical region of Bukovina, while the remainder forms part of Western Moldavia proper.
Romania elects on a national level a head of state – the president – and a legislature. The president is elected for a five-year term by the people. The Romanian Parliament has two chambers. The Chamber of Deputies has currently 330 members, elected for a four-year term by party-list proportional representation on closed lists. The Senate has currently 136 members, elected for a four-year term by party-list proportional representation on closed lists.

Presidential elections were held in Romania in 2014. They were the seventh presidential elections held in post-1989 Romania. In the first round of the elections on 2 November, the top two of the fourteen candidates qualified in a run-off on 16 November. These candidates were Victor Ponta, former Prime Minister and ex-leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) who won around 40% of the vote in the first round, and Klaus Iohannis, then mayor of Sibiu and leader of the Christian Liberal Alliance (ACL), who won around 30% in the first round respectively. Following large protests on how Ponta's government organized the elections in the diaspora, Klaus Iohannis staged a surprising come-back and won the run-off with 54.5%, or more than a million votes than his contender.

The Save Romania Union is a liberal political party active in Romania, currently the third largest party in the Parliament of Romania with 41 deputies and 20 senators, and a fifth at local level nationwide, after the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR/RMDSZ) and the People's Movement Party (PMP), two smaller centre-right political parties in the country.
Andrei Năstase is a Moldovan politician who served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs from 8 June 2019 to 12 November 2019. He was also a member of Parliament of Moldova in 2019. Năstase was the leader of the Dignity and Truth Platform from 2015 to 2021.

Anton Novakov or Novacov was a Bessarabian industrialist and legislator of the Moldavian Democratic Republic, of Bulgarian and Gagauz background. He was originally active in the Russian Empire's Bessarabia Governorate, where he organized credit unions. In late 1917, the co-operative network elected him to the Bessarabian council, or Sfatul Țării, which proclaimed the Moldavian Republic in December. Novakov served on the Commission to Combat Anarchy and helped organize a republican militia. His absence during the vote on Bessarabia's unification with Romania in March 1918 was partly explained by his missions in the field, though allegations later surfaced that he had actively conspired against the union's recognition. He lived the remainder of his life in Romanian Bessarabia, and integrated into the political life of Greater Romania: originally a member of the People's Party, he subsequently became a National Liberal. In the late 1920s, Novakov was involved in a legal battle with the Romanian state, over benefits he claimed were owed to him as a former member of the Sfatul.
