The 2020 Men's European Water Polo Championship Qualifiers are a series of tournaments aimed to establish the participants of the 2020 Men's European Water Polo Championship. The matches were played from 11 to 13 October 2019. [1]

Pools composition

The draw of the pools was held on 8 June 2019. [1] [2] The city selected as host were Tbilisi (Georgia), Nováky (Slovakia), Valletta (Malta) and Utrecht (Netherlands). [3] [4] [5] [6] The best two teams of each group qualified for the European Championship main round. [7]

The European Aquatics Championships is the continental Aquatics championship for Europe, which is organised by LEN—the governing body for aquatics in Europe. The Championships are currently held every two years ; and since 1999, they have included 4 aquatics disciplines: Swimming, Diving, Synchronised swimming and Open water swimming. Prior to 1999, the championships also included Water polo, which beginning in 1999 LEN split-off into a separate championships. The open water events are not held during the Olympic year.

Filip Filipović (water polo) Serbian water polo player

Filip Filipović is a Serbian water polo player. He was a member of the Serbia men's national water polo teams that won bronze medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics and gold medals in 2016 and 2020. He also held the world title in 2009 and 2015 and the European title in 2003, 2006, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018. He was named Most Valuable Player at the 2011 World Championships. He was also voted as the male water polo "Athlete of the Year" in 2011, 2014 and 2021 by the FINA magazine. He played for Pro Recco in Italy and won three LEN Champions League and three LEN Super Cup with them. Currently, he plays for Olympiacos.

Duško Pijetlović Serbian water polo player

Duško Pijetlović is a Serbian water polo center forward for VK Novi Beograd. He was a member of the Serbia men's national water polo teams that won Olympic gold medals in 2016 and 2020, and bronze medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. He held the world title in 2009 and 2015 and the European title in 2006, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018. Pijetlović won three consecutive Euroleague titles with three teams: in 2011 with Partizan in 2012 with Pro Recco and in 2013 with Crvena Zvezda.

Andrija Prlainović Serbian water polo player

Andrija Prlainović is a Serbian water polo player. He was a member of the Serbia men's national water polo teams that won bronze medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics and gold medals in 2016 and 2020. He also held the world title in 2009 and 2015 and the European title in 2006, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018. Prlainović was born in Dubrovnik, Croatia and raised in Herceg Novi, Montenegro, where he came up through the PVK Jadran youth system. In 2011, he won the LEN Euroleague with VK Partizan and in 2013 with Red Star Belgrade, where he was one of the best scorers.

Slovakia mens national water polo team

The Slovakia men's national water polo team is the representative for Slovakia in international men's water polo. The governing body is from 2017 Slovak Swimming Federation. It was established in 1993 as the successor state of the Czechoslovakia, so all its results fully belong to it.

Alexander Parsonage is a British water polo player. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he competed for the Great Britain men's national water polo team in the men's event. He is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 192 pounds.

Georgia mens national water polo team

The Georgia men's national water polo team represents Georgia in international men's water polo competitions. The team participated at the 2014 European Championship.

Danube Arena

The Danube Arena is an aquatics complex located in Budapest, Hungary. It was designed by Marcell Ferenc and built between 2015 and 2017.

LEN European Junior Water Polo Championship is an continental water polo tournament held every two years for the players under the age of 17.

Andria Bitadze is a professional Georgian water polo player for WPC Dinamo Tbilisi and the Georgian national team. Previously he has played for Jadran Herceg Novi, CN Barcelona, VK Crvena Zvezda and Roma vis Nova.

Laura Petronella Aarts is a Dutch water polo player for Dunaújvárosi FVE and the Dutch national team.

Dagmar Rixt Genee is a Dutch water polo player for UZSC Utrecht and the Dutch national team.

The 2020 Women's European Water Polo Championship was the 18th edition of the major European water polo tournament for national teams. It was held at the Danube Arena in Budapest, Hungary, from 12 to 25 January 2020.

The 2019–20 LEN Euro League Women was the 33rd edition of the major competition for European women's water polo clubs. It is started on 31 October 2019 and it was scheduled to end with the Final 4 on 24 and 25 April 2020.
