The 2021 America East women's basketball tournament began on February 28 and concluded with the championship game on March 12. Stony Brook won their first conference title and advanced to the 2021 NCAA tournament. [1] Only six teams competed, as Binghamton, Hartford, UMBC, and Vermont suspended their seasons in January and February, due to COVID-19 issues.

The America East Conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I founded in 1979, whose members are located in the Northeastern United States.
The America East men's basketball tournament is the annual concluding tournament for the NCAA college basketball in the America East Conference. The winner of the annual tournament gains an automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship.
The Albany Great Danes men's basketball team is the basketball team that represent the University at Albany, State University of New York in Albany, New York. The school's team currently competes in the America East Conference and plays its home games at SEFCU Arena. The team played in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament in 2006, 2007, 2013, and 2014, 2015. They also made the CIT in 2016 and 2017, and are currently coached by Dwayne Killings.
The Stony Brook Seawolves are the athletic teams of Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York, United States. Stephen Christopher Pikiell is an American college basketball coach and, since March 16th, 2016, the head men's basketball coach at Rutgers. Prior to Rutgers, Pikiell was the head coach at Stony Brook for over a decade, leading the Seawolves to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016.
The Albany Great Danes are the NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletic programs of the University at Albany, SUNY, located in Albany, New York, United States. A member of the America East Conference, the University at Albany, SUNY sponsors teams in eight men's and ten women's NCAA sanctioned sports. They finished the season 26–7, 14–2 in America East play to win the regular-season championship. They defeated UMBC, Hartford, and Vermont to become champions of the America East Tournament and earn the conference's automatic bid goes the NCAA tournament, their first in school history. As a #13 seed, the Seawolves fell to Kentucky in the first round.
