The 2021 Big Sky Conference women's soccer tournament was the postseason women's soccer tournament for the Big Sky Conference held from November 3 to November 7, 2021. The five-match tournament took place at Jackson Stadium, home of the regular-season champions Northern Colorado. The six-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The Montana Grizzlies were the defending champions [1] [2] and successfully defended their title by defeating Weber State in the Finals. [3] This was the sixth overall title for Montana, and the third title for coach Chris Citowicki. Montana and coach Citowicki have won three of the last four Big Sky Conference Tournaments. [4] As tournament champions, Montana earned the Big Sky's automatic berth into the 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament.

Seeding

The top six teams in the regular season earned a spot in the tournament. Northern Arizona and Weber State finished tied for third, with both teams having a 6–3–0 conference record, but Northern Arizona secured the third seed in the tournament by virtue of defeating Weber State 4–1 on October 8. Sacramento State and Eastern Washington finished tied for sixth place, with both teams having a 3–6–0 conference record. Sacramento State won the tiebreaker and qualified for the tournament based on their 4–2 victory over Eastern Washington on October 10.

The Eastern Washington Eagles were the defending champions and successfully defended their title, defeating the Northern Colorado Bears 3–0 in the final. This was the second Big Sky tournament title for the Eastern Washington women's soccer program, both of which have come under the direction of head coach Chad Bodnar.

The 2018–19 Sacramento State Hornets men's basketball team represented California State University, Sacramento in the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Hornets were led by eleventh-year head coach Brian Katz and competed at The Nest as a member of the Big Sky Conference for the 23rd consecutive season. They finished the season 15–16, 8–12 in Big Sky play to finish in a tie for eighth place. They defeated Northern Arizona in the first round of the Big Sky tournament before losing in the quarterfinals to Montana.

The 2018–19 Montana Grizzlies basketball team represented the University of Montana during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Grizzlies, led by fifth-year head coach Travis DeCuire, played their home games at Dahlberg Arena in Missoula, Montana as members of the Big Sky Conference. Finishing the season 26–9 overall, 16–4 in Big Sky play, the Grizzlies won the Big Sky regular season championship. As the No. 1 seed in the Big Sky tournament, they defeated Sacramento State, Weber State, and Eastern Washington to win the tournament, and earned the Big Sky's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

The 2020 Eastern Washington Eagles football team represented Eastern Washington University as a member of the Big Sky Conference during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Led by fourth-year head coach Aaron Best, the Eagles played their home games at Roos Field in Cheney, Washington.

The 2021 Mountain West Conference women's soccer tournament was the postseason women's soccer tournament for the Mountain West Conference held from November 1 through November 6, 2021. The five-match tournament took place at Boas Tennis/Soccer Complex in Boise, Idaho. The six-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. Boise State won the tournament in 2019 and are classified as the defending champions because there was no tournament held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. New Mexico were the regular season champions in 2020. Boise State was unable to defend their crown, losing to Fresno State on penalties in the Semifinals. New Mexico then defeated Fresno State in the finals 2–1 to win the title. This was the second tournament championship for New Mexico, their first since 2011. It was the first title for head coach Rob Baarts. As tournament champions, New Mexico earned the Mountain West's automatic berth into the 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament.

The 2022–23 Montana State Bobcats men's basketball team represented Montana State University in the Big Sky Conference during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Led by fourth-year head coach Danny Sprinkle, the Bobcats played their home games on campus at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse in Bozeman, Montana. They finished the season at 25–10, 15–3 in Big Sky play to finish in second place. In the Big Sky tournament, MSU defeated Northern Colorado, Weber State, and Northern Arizona to win the tournament championship. As a result, the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament as the No. 14 seed in the East regions. They lost in the first round to Kansas State.

Montana was unable to defend their title as they lost to Idaho in the Semifinals. Northern Arizona won their first title since 2014 by defeating Idaho in the final on penalties 4–3 after the game finished tied 0–0. This was the fourth overall title for Montana, and the first title for head coach Alan Berrios. As tournament champions, Northern Arizona earned the Big Sky's automatic berth into the 2022 NCAA Division I women's soccer tournament.

The 2023 Big Sky Conference women's soccer tournament was the postseason women's soccer tournament for the Big Sky Conference held from November 1 to November 5, 2023. The five-match tournament took place at Lumberjack Stadium, home of the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks. The six-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks were the defending champions.. Northern Arizona was unable to defend their title as they lost to Idaho in the Final. The 2–1 victory gave Idaho their first Big Sky Conference title. This was the first overall title for Idaho, and the first title for head coach Jeremy Clevenger. As tournament champions, Idaho earned the Big Sky's automatic berth into the 2023 NCAA Division I women's soccer tournament.
