The 2021 Bokor City Council election were held on 25 July 2021. This is the first Bokor City Council election, City Council elections will serve five-year terms. [1] [2]
On 30 March 2021 the government of Cambodia declared its intention to establish a new city in the Kampot province, which is located along the coast. Hun Sen signed a sub-decree that states that the new city will be called Bokor City, after Kampot's famous Bokor Mountain.The new city will be located in the Beung Touk, Koh Toch, and Prek Tnout communes, which are all divided from the Teuk Chhou district. [3]
According to Article 78 of the Law on the Election of the council, new city councils must be elected no later than 240 days following the city's founding. However, voting in the Bokor City Council Election is not open to the general public. According to Soryda, the only individuals with voting rights are the current commune council members because the three communes under the Toek Chhou district already existed. [4] However, according to government spokesman Phay Siphan, the election was delayed due to all available resources are being directed toward combating COVID-19; however, elections can be scheduled once conditions improve. [5]
The ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP), the Cambodian Nationality Party (NNP), and the Cambodian Youth Party (CYP) and FUNCINPEC are the parties that have formally registered. Each party has nominated between 26 and 28 candidates for the council, according to NEC. [6] [7]

Polling stations opened at 7:00 am as planned and closed at 7:41 am following the vote casting of all 17 councilors. The NEC emphasized that there were no invalid votes and that the ballot counting process was conducted in a fair and transparent manner under the watchful eyes of political agents, journalists, and national election observers. The ballot counting process began as soon as the polls closed and ended at 8:08 am. [8]

Kampot is a province in southwestern Cambodia. It borders the provinces of Koh Kong and Kampong Speu to the north, Takéo to the east, Kep and the country of Vietnam to the south, and Sihanoukville to the west. To its south it has a coastline of around 45 km on the Gulf of Thailand. It is rich in low arable lands and has abundant natural resources. Its capital is the city of Kampot.
The League for Democracy Party is a Cambodian political party which was formed on 15 July 2005. The party itself, however, was established on 26 June 2006. Its leader is Khem Veasna. Its stated goal is to have "A Nation in Which We Live in Equity As Its Owner." Its main mission is to implement the party's "eight Mechanisms" as legal instruments to "reduce the power of the government and bring power back to the citizens."
The National Election Committee is an independent agency that supervises the national elections of Cambodia.
Communal elections were held in Cambodia on Sunday, 4 June 2017. The National Election Committee (NEC) announced that some 7.8 million of 9.6 million eligible Cambodians were registered to cast their ballots. 94,595 candidates from 12 political parties contested the 11,572 commune council seats in 1,646 communes of Cambodia. Voter turnout was a record 90.37%. There were concerns surrounding some irregularities in the polling.

Miss Grand Cambodia 2021 was the seventh edition of the Miss Grand Cambodia beauty pageant, held at the AEON Mall, Sen Sok City in Phnom Penh, on October 10, 2021. Twenty-five contestants, who qualified for the national contest through online screening, competed for the title, of whom a 23-year-old nursing student Miss City Tourism and Miss-Asia Pacific International Cambodia former from Battambang, Sothida Pokimtheng, was named the winner. She later represented Cambodia in the Miss Grand International 2021 held that year in Thailand on December 4, where she placed among the top 10 finalists and also won the Miss Popular Vote awards.
