The 2022 Rugby Africa Women's Cup is the second edition of the Rugby Africa Women's Cup following the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 editions due to COVID-19 related restrictions. The 12 teams are split in 4 pools that play a single round-robin where the winners classify to the second phase of the tournament. Pool A was played in June 2022 due to South Africa participation on the 2021 World Cup. The schedule for the other pools was announced by Rugby Africa on October 10, 2022. [1]

Contents

The tournament reconvened on October 14 and concluded on November 12. South Africa, Kenya, Madagascar and Cameroon were the four teams to qualify after topping their respective pools. [2]

The 2012 Africa Cup was the twelfth edition of the Africa Cup, an annual international rugby union tournament for African nations organised by the Confederation of African Rugby (CAR). The tournaments between 2012 and 2014 will also serve as qualifiers for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

The Africa section of 2015 Rugby World Cup qualifying saw thirteen teams competing for one direct qualification spot into the final tournament in England, and one spot in the Repechage play-offs.

The 2015 Women's Africa Cup Sevens was a women's rugby sevens tournament for the continental championship of Africa and a qualification tournament for rugby sevens at the 2016 Summer Olympics. The competition was held in Kempton Park, South Africa on 26–27 September 2015. It was the fifth all-continental African Women's Sevens Championship, hosting teams from both Northern and Southern Africa.

The 2017 Women's Africa Cup Sevens was a women's rugby sevens tournament held in Monastir, Tunisia on 16–17 September 2017. This tournament served as a qualifier for two tournaments, only the winner qualifies for next years 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens, whereas the top two teams qualify for the 2018 Commonwealth Games which will also be held the following year.

The Rugby Africa Women's Cup is an international women's rugby union competition contested by women's national teams from Africa.

The 2021–22 Rugby Africa Cup, which doubled as Qualifying for the 2023 Rugby World Cup for Africa began in June 2021, where teams competed for one direct qualification spot into the final World Cup tournament and for one place in the final Qualification Tournament.

The 2022 Africa Women's Sevens are an annual African rugby sevens tournament that took place at the Stade Municipal de Jemmal in Jemmal on 29 and 30 April 2022; they were held in Tunisia for the fourth time.

The 2019 Rugby Africa Women's Cup was the first edition of the Rugby Africa Women's Cup and was held in South Africa. It also doubled as a 2021 Rugby World Cup qualifier for the African continent. The tournament was played as a single round-robin at the Bosman Stadium in Brakpan from 9–17 August 2019. Four women's national teams competed.

The 2021 Rugby Africa Women's Series was a series of test matches that replaced the Rugby Africa Women's Cup competition. The purpose of the series was to assess teams and to give them an opportunity to exhibit their talent ahead of the newly announced WXV competition.

The Ivory Coast women's national rugby union team are a national sports team that represents the Ivory Coast in women's international rugby union. They played their first test match in 2021.

The Senegal women's national rugby union team are a national sports team that represents Senegal in women's international rugby union. They played their first test match against Tunisia in 2021.

The Madagascar women's national rugby union team are a national sports team that represents Madagascar in women's international rugby union. They made their test debut against Kenya in 2019.

The 2012 CAR Women's Sevens was a qualification tournament for the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens which took place in Rabat on 29 to 30 September 2012. There was only one spot available in the World Cup for the region since South Africa had qualified automatically from their semifinal placement in the 2009 World Cup Sevens.
