The 2022 The Basketball League All-Star Game was held at Liverpool High School on April 16, 2022. Team NBLC was coached by Doug Plumb of the London Lightning, while team TBL was coached by Patrick Beilein of the Syracuse Stallions and Will Brown of the Albany Patroons.
The TBL defeated NLBC, 155–150. Chris Darrington of the Toledo Glass City B.C was named Most Valuable Player of the All-Star Game. Thomas Garrick of the Jamestown Jackals won the Three-Point Contest. [1]
On February 8, 2022, the league announced that the Syracuse Stallions would host an all star game between National Basketball League of Canada and The Basketball League. [2] On April 11, 2022, it was announced that Plumb would coach a team representing the NBL Canada, which would compete against the team from the TBL. [3]

The Albany Patroons are a professional basketball team that plays in The Basketball League (TBL). Previously, the team competed in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and in the United States Basketball League (USBL). The Patroons won CBA championships in 1984 and 1988 as well as a TBL championship in 2019. The team's name derives from patroon, the term for a large landholders in New Netherland, the Dutch colony that once included the Albany region.
The Halifax Rainmen were a professional basketball team based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. They played in the Atlantic Division of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL) and their home games took place at the Scotiabank Centre, formerly known as the Halifax Metro Centre. Andre Levingston was the owner of the Rainmen since he helped establish the team in 2006. The team played their first season in the American Basketball Association (ABA). However, after becoming unhappy with the ABA, they moved to the Premier Basketball League (PBL) for the next three seasons. In 2011, they joined the NBL Canada as one of the original seven teams. Despite showing success in the four seasons they spent in the Canadian league, making two Finals appearances, the Rainmen filed for bankruptcy in July 2015. The team was coming off a controversial loss in the 2015 NBL Canada Finals against the Windsor Express and forfeited Game 7 after taking part in a pre-game brawl. The Halifax Hurricanes, with a larger ownership group than the Rainmen's single owner, replaced the Rainmen in NBL Canada for the 2015–16 season.
The National Basketball League of Canada was a Canadian professional men's minor league basketball organization. The NBL Canada was founded in 2011, when three existing Premier Basketball League teams joined with four new franchises for the league's inaugural season. The league changed in size multiple times and had four active teams in its final season, all in Ontario, but historically the NBLC had several located in the Atlantic provinces. The league's season typically ran from November to April of the following year. The final league champions were the London Lightning, who defeated the Windsor Express 3–2 in the 2023 NBL Finals.

Doug Plumb is a Canadian former professional basketball player. As of 2019, he is the head coach for the London Lightning of the National Basketball League of Canada. He is a 3 time champion of the NBLC and holds the second highest winning percentage in league history winning over 81% of his games. He finished his college basketball career at UBC and briefly played professionally in Europe, before joining the London Lightning as an assistant coach in 2016. He joined the St. John's Edge in 2017 and eventually became the head coach.
