2023 Global Touring Car Championship

The 2023 Global Touring Car Championship (commercially titled 2023 Sasol GTC Championship) was the eighth season of the South African Global Touring Car Championship. [1] The season was contested over seven rounds, starting at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on 24 February and ending at the Zwartkops Raceway on October 14.

A TCR Touring Car is a touring car specification, first introduced in 2014 and is now employed by a multitude of series worldwide. All TCR Touring Cars are front-wheel drive cars based on 4 or 5 door production vehicles, and are powered by 1.75 to 2.0 litre turbocharged engines. While the bodyshell and suspension layout of the production vehicle is retained in a TCR car, and many models use a production gearbox, certain accommodations are made for the stresses of the racetrack including upgraded brakes and aerodynamics. Competition vehicles are subject to balance of performance (BoP) adjustments to ensure close racing between different vehicles.

The 2019 Intercontinental GT Challenge was the fourth season of the Intercontinental GT Challenge. The season featured five rounds, starting with the Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour on 3 February and concluding with the Kyalami 9 Hours on 23 November. Tristan Vautier was the defending Drivers' champion and Audi was the defending Manufacturers' champion.

The 2020 TCR Australia Touring Car Series was to be the second season of the TCR Australia Touring Car Series. The series was set be run as part of the renamed Motorsport Australia Championships series. The rescheduled season-opener was due to be held in Sydney Motorsport Park and it was cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The Global Touring Car Championship is a South African touring car series co-founded by Gary Formato and Vic Maharaj in 2016 and sanctioned by Motorsport South Africa. Sasol has been the series' title sponsor and sole fuel supplier since its inaugural season. It has dubbed itself South Africa's "premier motorsport championship".

The 2016 Global Touring Car Championship was the inaugural season of the Global Touring Car Championship, a South African touring car racing series. The series was scheduled for six rounds, consisting of a total of fourteen races from 9 August until 3 December.

The 2021 International GT Open was the sixteenth season of the International GT Open, the grand tourer-style sports car racing series founded in 2006 by the Spanish GT Sport Organización. It began on 15 May at Circuit Paul Ricard and endedat the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 24 October after seven rounds of two races each. This season the GT Cup Open Europe was brought into the International GT Open, meaning the GTC and GT4 cars shared grids with the headlining series.

The 2022 World Touring Car Cup was the fifth and final season of the World Touring Car Cup and 18th overall of the series, which dates back to the 2005 World Touring Car Championship. The season began on 7 May at the Circuit de Pau-Ville and ended on 27 November in Jeddah Corniche Circuit, however multiple event cancellations due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and ongoing quarantine restrictions in Asia. On 1 September 2022, the organiser announced the final version of the calendar, adding Bahrain and Saudi Arabia as final venues for the 2022 season.

The 2022 Global Touring Car Championship was the seventh season of the South African Global Touring Car Championship. The season was contested over seven rounds, starting at the Killarney Motor Racing Complex on March 4 and ending at the Zwartkops Raceway on October 15.

Zwartkops Raceway is a 2.400 km (1.491 mi) circuit located in Centurion, South Africa, South Africa. The circuit was inaugurally opened in November 1961, was closed in 1998, but re-opened in March 2001.
