The 2023 Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards season was the third season of the franchise in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).
Coming off a historic 2022 campaign that included the league's first regular season sweep, [1] Nueva Ecija entered this season as the defending champions. [2] They continued to show their winning prowess by starting with an 11-game winning streak before losing to Sarangani on their 12th game on June 3. [3] On September 21, Nueva Ecija achieved their winningest season to date with their 22nd win over San Juan. [4] They finished the season at second place in the North Division with a 23–5 record.
In the playoffs, Nueva Ecija swept the Pasay Voyagers in the division quarterfinals. [5] In the division semifinals, however, Nueva Ecija would be swept by the sixth-seeded San Juan Knights. [6]
The team played all of their home games at Nueva Ecija Coliseum in Palayan.
Nueva Ecija was one of eight teams that took part in the 2023 MPBL Preseason Invitational. For the second consecutive time, they would reach the finals against the Zamboanga Family's Brand Sardines, however would once again fall short of the Invitational title. [7]

The Pampanga Giant Lanterns, also known as Pampanga Giant Lanterns – AMG3 Construction for sponsorship reasons, are a Filipino professional basketball team based in the province of Pampanga. The team competes in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as a member of the league's North Division. They are one of five teams based in the Central Luzon region and play their home games at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando.

The 2019–20 MPBL season, also known as the MPBL Lakan Season or the Chooks-to-Go MPBL Lakan Season for sponsorship reasons, was the third season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. It was also the last season of the league's semi-professional era, as they would turn professional in December 2021. The regular season began June 12, 2019 and ended on February 12, 2020. The playoffs then began on February 15, 2020, and ended on March 21, 2021 when the Davao Occidental Tigers defeated the defending champion San Juan Knights in four games in the 2021 MPBL finals.

The 2021 MPBL Invitational was the preseason tournament for the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League's 2022 season and what would become the first edition of the MPBL Preseason Invitational. The tournament began on December 11, 2021 and ended on December 23, 2021 when the Basilan Jumbo Plastic beat the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards in overtime, 83–80. Philip Manalang, who hit the championship-winning buzzer beater for Basilan, was adjudged as the tournament Finals MVP.

Following their title clash in the 2022 FilBasket Summer Championship, both teams have fought for North Division contention in the MPBL, playing each other in back-to-back playoff series.
