2023 WAFU Zone A Women's Cup squads

The 2023 WAFU Zone A Women's Cup is an international women's association football tournament held in Cape Verde from 20 January until 1 February 2023. The 8 national teams involved in the tournament were required to register a squad of at least 20 players, including two goalkeepers at minimum. Only players in these squads were eligible to take part in the tournament.

Contents

The age listed for each player is on 20 January 2023, the first day of the tournament. The number of caps and goals listed for each player do not include any matches played after the start of the tournament. The club listed is the club for which the player last played a competitive match prior to the tournament. A flag is included for coaches who are of a different nationality than their own national team.

The Cape Verde national football team represents Cape Verde in men's international football, and is controlled by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. Gambia national under-20 football team is the U-20 football team of the Gambia and is controlled by the Gambia Football Federation. It serves as the youth team and feeder team of the Gambia national football team. They are nicknamed The Young Scorpions.

Each national team has to submit a squad of 18 players, two of whom must be goalkeepers.

The 2016 Cape Verdean Football Championship season was the 37th beginner level competition of the first-tier football in Cape Verde. It started on 14 May and finished on 9 July, it started five days later than last season and finished two days earlier, the season was a week shorter than last. The championship was governed by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. The scheduling was completed on November 16 and the group system was kept instead of becoming a one portion season without playoffs and was the last time. CS Mindelense won the record breaking title and became the second club after Sporting Praia to win four in a row, the highest ever, also it was Mindelense's last. Mindelense chose to not participate in the CAF Champions League competition in 2017, Académica do Porto Novo did not participate in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup, both of the clubs due to financial concerns, of any club, it is the eighth consecutive time and becomes the recent African nation not to bring a champion to the continentals for the most consecutive years, in the cup competition, Cape Verde is the longest for not bringing a club in Africa lasting for more than 15 years straight, not even the three national cup winners competed. Mindelense qualified and participated in the 2017 National Championships.

Qualification for the 2021 CAF Women's Champions League began on 24 July 2021 within UNAF for North Africa and WAFU Zone A for West Africa and concluded on 4 September 2021 within COSAFA for Southern Africa.

The 2021 CAF Women's Champions League WAFU Zone A Qualifiers is the 1st edition of the WAFU Zone A women's club football qualifier tournament organised by the WAFU for the women's clubs of association nations. The tournament was hosted by Cape Verde and took place from 20 to 29 January 2023; it was the first major WAFU A tournament to be hosted in Cape Verde. The opening match was contested between Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau at Estádio Marcelo Leitão, Espargos, Sal Island on 20 January 2023. The final took place on 29 January 2023 at Estádio Marcelo Leitão, Espargos.

The 2023 WAFU Zone A U-20 Women's Cup was the inaugural edition of the WAFU Zone A U20 Women's Cup, the international women's youth football championship contested by the under-20 national teams of the member associations of the West African Football Union Zone A, the tournament took place in Bo, Sierra Leone between 24 May and 28 May 2023.

The 2024 WAFU Zone A U-20 Women's Cup is the 2nd edition of the WAFU Zone A U20 Women's Cup, the international women's youth football championship contested by the under-20 national teams of the member associations of the West African Football Union Zone A, The tournament is set to take place in Senegal from 20 to 30 May 2024.
