The 2024 FIBA Men's Pre-Qualifying Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in Africa was one of five 2024 FIBA Men's Pre-Qualifying Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. Twelve teams qualified for the women's basketball at the 2020 Summer Olympics tournament. The host nation and the 2018 World Cup winner qualified. Those two teams, however, had to play in the pre-qualifying and qualifying tournaments and took one of the qualifying spots from those tournaments. Thus, while two of the World Qualifying Tournaments provided quota spots to their three top teams, the other two tournaments provided quota spots only to the top two teams plus either the host nation or the World Cup winner.

The AfroBasket 2021 qualification was a basketball competition that was played from January 2020 to July 2021, to determine the fifteen FIBA Africa nations who would join the automatically qualified host Rwanda at the AfroBasket 2021 final tournament.

The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification for the FIBA Africa region, began in November 2021 and concluded in February 2023. The process determined the five African teams that would participate at the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

The 2022 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup Qualifying Tournament determined the last ten teams for the 2022 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup. It was held from 10 to 14 February 2022.

The men's qualification for the Olympic basketball tournament will occur between August 2023 and 2024, allocating twelve teams for the final tournament. All five FIBA zones are expected to have a representation in the Olympic basketball event.

The women's qualification for the Olympic handball tournament occurred between November 2022 and April 2024, assigning quota places to the twelve squads for the Games: the hosts, the world champion, four continental champions, and six teams from the IHF World Olympic qualifying tournaments, respectively.

The 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup Pre-Qualifying Tournaments will be held from 19 to 25 August 2024 in Mexico City, Mexico and Kigali, Rwanda. The winner of each tournament, are qualified for the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup Qualifying Tournaments.
