The 2024 Kalinga Super Cup held in Odisha from January 9 to 28, 2024. A total of 16 teams, consisting of 12 ISL and 4 I-League, compete in the group stage to decide the 4 places in the knockout stage.
The draw for the group stage was conducted at the AIFF Football House in New Delhi on Monday, December 18, 2023. [1]
The teams were divided into four pots, with the 12 Indian Super League teams placed in Pots 1–3, according to their points per match in the ISL 2023-24 as of December 17, 2023. The three I-League teams were in Pot 4. [2]
Five I-League teams confirmed their participation in the Kalinga Super Cup – Gokulam Kerala FC, Sreenidi Deccan FC, Shillong Lajong FC, Inter Kashi, and Rajasthan United FC. The top three of these teams, as per the I-League 2023-24 standings after the matches on December 24, 2023, qualified directly for the Kalinga Super Cup group stage as I-League 1, I-League 2, and I-League 3, respectively. The bottom two teams contested a single-leg qualifying play-off on January 9 to determine the fourth and final I-League team in the group stage. This team, known as I-League 4, was not included in the draw pot and automatically got placed in Group D at Position D4. [3]

The 2022–23 Mohun Bagan season was the club's 3rd season in Indian Super League and 133rd season since its establishment in 1889. Due to lengthened schedule of 2022 AFC Cup, the knockout stage is moved to 2022–23 season from 2021–22 season as it is to be played in September 2022. The principle team owner, Sanjeev Goenka, announced after winning the 2023 Indian Super League Final that ATK Mohun Bagan will be rebranded as Mohun Bagan Super Giant from the next season.

On 05th august 2023, gokulam announced 22 member squad for durand cup Gokulam kerala confirmed their Participation in Super cup along with other 5 I-league clubs. On 31 March, it was announced that GKFC had sacked head coach Domingo oramas following their defeat to Delhi FC.

The 2023–24 season was the seventh season in Real Kashmir FC's existence, and their sixth season in I-League. Their first match of the season was played on 28 October 2023 and their last on 13 April 2024, in 1–4 defeat away from home against Namdhari. Real Kashmir finished fifth in the league. Their captain Muhammad Hammad received the Jarnail Singh Award for Best Defender of the season.
