The World Baseball Classic is an international baseball tournament, sanctioned from 2006 to 2013 by the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and after 2013 by World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) in partnership with Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) through the World Baseball Classic Inc. The winning team is awarded the World Baseball Classic Championship Trophy.
The Japan national baseball team, also known as Samurai Japan (侍ジャパン), is the national team representing Japan in international baseball competitions. It won the World Baseball Classic in 2006, 2009, and 2023 as well as WBSC Premier12 in 2019. The team is currently ranked 1st in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation.
The United States national baseball team, also known as Team USA represents the United States in international-level baseball competitions. The team is currently ranked 2nd in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation. The United States has won many international tournaments, many of which are now discontinued. Most notably the team won the Olympic baseball tournament in 2000, and the World Baseball Classic (WBC) in 2017.
The Venezuela national baseball team is the national team of Venezuela. It is currently ranked sixth in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation, behind the Mexico and ahead of the Netherlands. The team will compete against Israel, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Nicaragua in the 2023 World Baseball Classic in March 2023 in Miami, Florida.
World Baseball Softball Confederation is the world governing body for the sports of baseball, softball, and Baseball5. It was established in 2013 by the merger of the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and International Softball Federation (ISF), the former world governing bodies for baseball and softball, respectively. Under WBSC's organizational structure, IBAF and ISF now serve as the Baseball Division and Softball Division of WBSC. Each division is governed by an executive committee, while the WBSC is governed by an executive board.
The 2015 WBSC Premier12 was an international baseball championship sponsored by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), the inaugural event of the WBSC Premier12. It was held from November 8 to 21 in Taiwan and Japan. The South Korean national team won the championship, and split a US$1 million prize.
Six teams qualified for the Olympic softball tournament, including Japan, which, as host nation, qualified automatically. The United States team won the 2018 Women's Softball World Championship to qualify for the Olympics. The remaining four spots were allocated through three qualification tournaments: one spot for a Europe/Africa tournament, one spot for an Asia/Oceania tournament, and two spots for an Americas tournament.
The softball competition at the 2022 World Games took place from July 9–13, 2022, in Birmingham in United States, at the University of Alabama Birmingham. Originally scheduled to take place in July 2021, the Games were rescheduled for July 2022 as a result of the 2020 Summer Olympics postponement due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Softball will return to official programme of the World Games after nine years of absence.
The Baseball5 World Cup is a mixed-gender Baseball5 (B5) world championship that occurs every two years, with the first edition held in 2022 in Mexico and contested by 12 countries. It is governed by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).
The 2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup, officially IV U-23 Baseball World Cup, is the fourth edition of the U-23 Baseball World Cup tournament. It was held in Taipei, Taichung, and Yunlin in Taiwan. Players born between 1999 and 2004 are eligible to play the tournament.
The 2022 WBSC Men's Softball World Championship was the 17th Men's Softball World Championship, an international softball tournament taking place in Auckland, New Zealand from 26 November to 4 December 2022. Originally scheduled for February 2021, the tournament was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. New Zealand last hosted the tournament in 2013. It will be the 17th edition of the tournament.
The 2024 Women's Softball World Cup will be the 18th Women's Softball World Cup, an international softball tournament taking place in Balbriggan, Ireland; Buttrio and Castions di Strada, Italy and Valencia, Spain. The group stage will take place from 11–26 July 2023, held as three separate groups across three nations. The finals will take place in Buttrio and Castions di Strada, Italy from 15–21 July 2024. This is the first WBSC event to be held in two stages. It will be the first time Ireland, Italy and Spain have hosted a major softball tournament. It also the first time more than one nation has hosted the tournament. The United States are the defending champions.
The following is the qualification system and qualified athletes, countries and teams for the Baseball at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games competitions. As the host nation, El Salvador qualifies a team with 24 athletes automatically. The WBSC ranking determined the next four as of the December 31, 2022 release: Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Venezuela. The top two non-qualified finishers of the Caribbean Baseball Cup, Bahamas 2022 (COCABE) will receive their quota automatically, which are Puerto Rico and Curaçao. The highest non-qualified finisher of the 2023 Centroamericano de Beisbol received the last slot, which is Nicaragua.
The 2024 Women's Baseball World Cup will be the 9th Women's Baseball World Cup, an international baseball tournament taking place in Thunder Bay, Canada, and one other to be determined location. The group stage will take place from 8-13 August 2023 as two separate tournaments in two separate locations. The finals will take place in Thunder Bay, Canada in 2024. This is the first Women's Baseball World Cup event to be held in two stages. It will be the third time Canada have hosted the tournament. It is also the first time more than one nation has hosted the tournament. Japan are the defending champions.

Originally scheduled for October 2022, the tournament was postponed due to a number of reasons. The bidding process was reopened and once again awarded to Paraná in Argentina.
The 2023 Women's Softball Asia Cup is an international softball tournament which featured nine nations and is held from 2–8 April 2023 in Incheon, South Korea. Matches held at the Songdo LNG Baseball Stadium.
Group A of the 2024 Women's Softball World Cup will take place from 11 to 15 July 2023 in Balbriggan, Republic of Ireland. The group consists of host nation Ireland, Chinese Taipei, United States, Great Britain, Australia and Botswana. The United States and Australia advanced to the Finals to be held in 2024, with the United States going undefeated winning all four of their games.
Group C of the 2024 Women's Softball World Cup will take place from 22 to 26 July 2023 in Castions di Strada and Buttrio, Italy. The group consists of host nation Italy, Japan, Canada, Venezuela, New Zealand and Philippines. Japan and Canada advanced to the Finals to be held in 2024. Italy also advanced to the Finals as host/wildcard.
