The 2025 IHF Men's Youth World Championship will be the 11th edition of the championship to be held in Slovenia under the aegis of International Handball Federation (IHF). It will be first time in history that the championship will be organised by Handball Federation of Slovenia. [1]
Spain are the defending champions.
Three nations entered bid for hosting the tournament:
North Macedonia and Poland later withdrew their bid. The tournament was awarded to Slovenia by the IHF Council in its meeting held in Cairo, Egypt on 28 February 2020.

The International Handball Federation (IHF) is the administrative and controlling body for handball and beach handball. IHF is responsible for the organisation of handball's major international tournaments, notably the IHF World Men's Handball Championship, which commenced in 1938, and the IHF World Women's Handball Championship, which commenced in 1957.
The 2015 World Men's Handball Championship was the 24th staging of the World Men's Handball Championship, organised by the International Handball Federation (IHF). The final tournament was held for the first time in Qatar, from 15 January to 1 February 2015. The Qatari bid was selected over those of Norway, Poland and France after a vote by the IHF Council on 27 January 2011, in Malmö, Sweden. This was the third time that the World Championship was hosted in the Middle East And North Africa, after Egypt in 1999 and Tunisia in 2005.
The 2017 IHF World Men's Handball Championship was the 25th event hosted by the International Handball Federation. The event was held in France from 11 to 29 January 2017.
The handball tournaments at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was held from 6 to 21 August at the Future Arena in the Barra Olympic Park. The tournaments were won by Denmark in the men's competition and Russia for the women's tournament. The French teams for both competitions finished with the silver medal, and the bronze went to Germany and Norway, respectively.
The 2021 IHF World Men's Handball Championship was the 27th event hosted by the International Handball Federation and held in Egypt from 13 to 31 January 2021.
The 2023 IHF World Men's Handball Championship was the 28th such event hosted by the International Handball Federation. It was held in Poland and Sweden from 11 to 29 January 2023.
The 2021 IHF World Women's Handball Championship, the 25th event by the International Handball Federation, was held in Spain from 1 to 19 December 2021. On 18 October 2018, at a congress in Doha, Qatar, the IHF announced that the World Championship would be expanded from 24 teams to 32 teams from 2021 onwards.
The 2022 European Women's Handball Championship was held in Slovenia, North Macedonia and Montenegro from 4 to 20 November 2022. The tournament was advanced a month in order not to coincide with the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The 2024 European Women's Handball Championship will be held in Austria, Hungary and Switzerland from 28 November to 15 December 2024. This will be the first tournament to feature 24 teams. Norway are the two time defending champions.
The 2027 World Women's Handball Championship, the 28th event hosted by the International Handball Federation, will take place in Hungary in 2027. It will be the main qualifying event for the women's handball tournament of the 2028 Summer Olympics.
The 2023 IHF Men's Youth World Championship was the 10th edition of the championship, held from 2 to 13 August 2023 in Croatia under the aegis of International Handball Federation (IHF). It was the first time in history that the championship is organised by the Croatian Handball Federation.
The 2022 IHF Women's Youth World Championship was the ninth edition of the IHF Women's Youth World Championship, held from 30 July to 10 August 2022 in Skopje, North Macedonia under the aegis of the International Handball Federation (IHF). Originally scheduled to be held in Tbilisi, Georgia, it was moved to North Macedonia in April 2022 due to uncertainty because of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine and the safety of the tournament held in Georgia.
The 2022 IHF Women's Junior World Championship was the 23rd edition of the IHF Women's Junior World Championship, held in Slovenia from 22 June to 3 July 2022 under the aegis of International Handball Federation (IHF). For the first time, the championship was organised by the Handball Federation of Slovenia. The number of teams increased from 24 to 32.
The 2024 IHF Women's Junior World Championship will be 24th edition of the championship to be held in North Macedonia from 19 to 30 June 2024 under the aegis of International Handball Federation (IHF). It will be third time in history that the championship will be organised by Macedonian Handball Federation.
The 2023 IHF Men's Junior World Championship was the 24th edition of the IHF Men's Junior World Championship, held in Germany and Greece under the aegis of the International Handball Federation (IHF) from 20 June to 2 July 2023. It was the second time in history that the championship will be jointly organised by two countries, the first being in 1979.
The 2025 IHF Men's Junior World Championship will be 25th edition of the championship to be held in Poland under the aegis of International Handball Federation (IHF). It will be first time in history that the championship will be organised by Poland Handball Federation.
The 2025 IHF World Women's Handball Championship will be 27th edition of the championship to be jointly hosted by Germany and the Netherlands under the aegis of International Handball Federation (IHF) from 27 November to 14 December 2025. It will be fourth time in history that the championship is jointly hosted. Catch the Dream will be the official motto of the competition.
The 2022 IHF Youth Beach Handball World Championship will be the 2nd edition of the championship scheduled to be held in 14–19 June 2022 in Heraklion, Greece, under the aegis of the International Handball Federation (IHF).
The 2023 IHF World Women's Handball Championship was the 26th edition of the championship, organised by the International Handball Federation (IHF) from 29 November to 17 December 2023 and jointly hosted by Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. It was the third time in handball history that the championship is jointly hosted, the first in Sweden, and also the first to be played in three countries.
The 2024 IHF Women's Youth World Championship is the tenth edition of the IHF Women's Youth World Championship. It will be held in China from 14 to 25 August 2024.
